The walk starts from a small village, Plan d'Anelle, located in the commune of La Martre in the Var department on the border with the Alpes de Haute Provence. Park your car at the entrance to the village.
(S) Cross the village and turn left onto Rue du Four. Opposite you will see an isolated house with a letterbox at the entrance to the path. The trail is on the right between the track leading to the house and the field above. Ignore the paths on either side and continue to a fork at Rouail de Bertin.
(1) Leave the path on the right and continue straight ahead.
(2) Ignore the path on the right, which will be the return route, and continue straight ahead.
After 4 hours of walking, several tracks branch off to the right and left, and the path is very faint in the middle. You will come to a signpost indicating a path for horses on the right. Continue straight ahead. An old sign warns that the path is dangerous for horses. Indeed, there is a narrow passage over rocks that is easy to navigate on foot but can be difficult for horses.
When you reach a small pass, you can visit a karstic cave via a path on the right about 300 metres away.
(3) It is located on the ridge at the edge of the trees. Continue along the path to the summit, which passes in front of an imposing fence.
(4) The summit is not very high but offers a magnificent view of the Var and the Alpes de Haute Provence. The path continues north-west and crosses a track.
(5) From the track, you can visit another karstic cave about 300 metres to the east, the Aven des Cranes. On your return, the trail descends northwards and joins a track which you follow for 400 metres. The trail branches off to the right and crosses the track several times before rejoining it just before the D52 road.
(6) From there, I recommend taking the road on the right for about 600 metres. The trail passes underneath, but it is rarely used and overgrown with brambles.
(7) At a small bridge on your right, an old track branches off and joins the path. Be careful at this point as the path is very poorly marked. Take care not to get lost.
The path joins a track for a few metres and then turns right onto a steep slope. You will cross a plateau and then arrive at a very well-maintained track. On your right, you can go and see a spring and then return to the track. Before taking the same path as on the way up, you can cut across a path on your left, but be careful here too; I advise you to follow your GPS carefully.
(2) Once you reach the pass, all you have to do is descend to the village via the same path you took on the way up (E).
