The Wissgrut stubble fields via the Wagenstall waterfalls
The summit peaks of the Vosges are always a delight for hikers because of the magnificent views they offer. Those of the Wissgrut (or Wisskritt) between the Belfort gap and the Masevaux valley are remarkable. You will reach them via the beautiful Wagenstall waterfalls and continue along the ridge and the upper Fennematt valley, where the Doller river has its source, and its beautiful panoramic trail.
The Savoureuse Valley
A very beautiful hike with a stunning view from the summit of Ballon d'Alsace over two other ballons. This hike takes us to the remarkable sites of Saut de la Truite, Rummel Waterfall, Étang du Petit Haut and Vierge du Ballon.
Tour of the Riervescemont Valley
A lovely walk in the Southern Vosges with beautiful panoramic views, the Wissgrutt pastures and the chance to explore distinctive rocks and boulders (Grande Roche, Pierre Écrite, Roche du Serpent).
Mont Jean / Wissgrut / Baerenkopft mountain hut
A lovely walk with plenty of magnificent views over the valley.
The Wissgrut and the Baerenkopf as seen from Vescemont
A lovely circular walk that allows you to enjoy superb beech forests whilst offering numerous views of the Southern Vosges. The panorama from the Vierge du Chaume du Wissgrut and the mystery of the Pierre Écrite add some remarkable points of interest. It’s not difficult, but may seem long to some: you can omit the eastern section, which loops via Baerenkopf, reducing the distance by more than 5 km and the elevation gain by 300 m, whilst retaining virtually the same attractions.
The Grand Tour of Riervescemont, Lamadeleine and Val des Anges
A long walk starting from Lamadeleine Val des Anges, 20 km north-east of Belfort.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy the coolness of the forest and superb views from the heights. You’ll pass the shelters at the Col des Sept Chemins and the Col de Chantoiseau. On the ridge, just after the Refuge du Baerenkopf, you’ll be treated to a superb view of the Vosges mountains.
Tour of the upper Doller valley via the Wagenstall waterfalls
This walk takes you through the upper Doller valley from its source near Fennematt to Sewen, crossing the Wissgrut moorland and beautiful deciduous forests. From the Fennematt Road (near the hamlet of Lerchenmatt), climb up the Wissgrut stubble fields past the Wagenstallbach waterfalls, passing the Grand Langenberg farmhouse inn. Cross the moors to the Tremonkopf, passing by the Virgin of Wissgrut to enjoy magnificent views, then descend via a pleasant forest path through unnamed passes and the Hirtzelach Pass to the Lochberg Pass. Return via Fennematt, the source of the Doller and the magnificent Graber shelter – built of log walls and with a thatched roof – before reaching the valley.
