Col Agnel walks
Saint-Véran – Agnel Mountain Hut
This is the second stage ofthe GR®58, but it takes a variant route via the Col de Saint-Véran or the Col de la Cavale and includes an ascent to an altitude of 3,000 metres, to the Pic de Caramantran. There’s a magnificent view of Mount Viso at the highest point of this route. At the start of the season, there were still plenty of snowfields. A very wild route, which I recommend as an alternative to the Col de Chamoussiére path, which tends to be quite busy.

Col Agnel - L'Echalp
Fifth stage with the recommended ascent of Pain de Sucre.
Agnel Mountain Hut – La Monta Mountain Hut
The third stage of this journey presents no major difficulties, with exceptional views around the lakes. Only the descent from the Col Vieux to the Refuge de la Monta quickly takes its toll on your legs.
The abundance of flora makes this stage even more beautiful.
Refuge de la Blanche – Franco Boerio Bivouac
A foray into the Haute Ubaye to round off the route in style at its highest point. With the option of watching the sunset from the summit of the Bric de Rubren.
The route deliberately moves away from the border to take the easiest route up the hill.
Refuge de la Blanche - Maljasset
Here, the names change from white to black with great dexterity. Indeed, the passage from Queyras, Refuge de la Blanche, to Ubaye is via the Col de la Noire. Original, isn't it?
Trek around Monte Viso in 5 days, stage 3
High mountain stage.
Progress within a mineral setting.
A hike up to the highest pass of the trek.
Stunning view over the Pô water sources from "Sentier du Postier."
Trek around Monte Viso in 5 days, stage 5
Beautiful stage, green at first, covered by neve at the pass then very floral in Guil Valley.
Trek around Monte Viso day 4: Refuge Vallanta - L'Echalp
This stage involves a pass with neves and crossing Refuge du Viso high berm then Guil valley.
Vallanta Refuge - Sella Quintino Refuge
This Italian stage of the Mont Viso circuit presents no particular difficulties. You will discover its wild high valleys dotted with high-altitude lakes. You will cross a few scree slopes before reaching the Sella Quintino Refuge, near Lake Mont Viso.
Trek around Monte Viso day 2: Refuge Granero - Refuge Quintino Sella
Quite a long high mountain stage today, set in a mineral landscape passing through "les sources du Pô" and near beautiful mountain lakes. Exploring the north-east side of Monte Viso (3841m) will be the highlight.
From Rubren to Marinet
A very long day criss-crossing the border. But what breathtaking scenery! And you won’t be bothered by the neighbours... there’s little chance of coming across other two-legged creatures. But perhaps some ibex, vultures, including (apparently) a pair of bearded vultures.
