(S/E) From the car park at the start of the hike, walk past the first restaurant, "Restaurant Gralha", leaving the return route on your right. Continue straight on the main road for about 500 m, then turn left onto the path at the start of the hike, clearly marked by a sign saying "Vale Fuzeiros".
(1) The path first descends and then climbs back up on a wide path towards the east. Turn right onto a dirt track.
(2) Immediately after turning onto the dirt track, a path on the right leads to the first necropolis of Pedreirinha in the middle of the scrub. Fortunately, there is an information sign on the site.
Retrace your steps, continue along the path and after about a hundred metres take a path on the right (the sign had fallen down when we visited) across the moorland, which leads to a burial site carved into a large rock.
Turn back again and return to the path that climbs steeply towards the ridge to see the first menhir.
(3) The first menhir, known as Vilarinha, has carved holes. Continue along the ridge, still on the wide path, through the rockroses and "bees". You will pass three other menhirs, the last of which is the tallest (see photos). The path joins a road.
(4) When you reach the road, turn right and then, about 50 metres further on, leave the road and continue left on a path that crosses a stream. The path climbs steadily to a ridge at a crossroads. Continue straight ahead. The path passes by ponds and a beautiful house and descends to the road you left a little earlier. Take the road on the left for about 500 metres until you reach the junction with the M1080 (road to the Vale Fuzeiros car park on the right).
(5) Turn left when you reach the road, then immediately right onto a very narrow path that climbs towards the Carrasqueira necropolis (information board). Continue along the path that runs alongside a fence on the left and climbs to a new road. Follow the road to the right for about 1 km until you reach a three-way junction.
(6) Turn left onto the marked road that leads to the first houses. Walk past the houses; strangely, it feels like you are walking through the properties, but the path is definitely there. At the last house, you will reach the last but largest necropolis on the right. You will need to climb onto the stone slabs to see the whole site.
(7) From the necropolis, continue along the very narrow path that runs alongside the walls of the houses, then turn right and join the road that descends to the car park (S/E).
