(S/E) From the car park at the start, take the road on the right which climbs towards the village square. Once in the square, turn right (with your back to the church) onto the road that descends through the houses, then, at the first three-way junction, continue left (west) along a narrow lane, still going downhill (Caminho da Portela), which is very pleasant. You will come to a junction.
(1) Turn right onto the path that curves to the left. You’ll reach a road at a bend and continue downhill along this road, to the left, for about 500 m. You’ll reach a small car park.
(2) This is where the 7 Springs Route really begins. Take the lovely path on the right. The flat path is very pleasant and features information boards (Fonte Benémola). Follow the river, ignoring the paths on the right, to reach the spring.
(3) You can cross to the other side and return via the stepping stones. It is a peaceful spot with lush vegetation. Nine aquatic turtles endemic to Portugal have recently been released in this area; this is, of course, a protected species. Continue along the river; then, suddenly, the path turns right up a fairly steep and rocky slope. You’ll emerge onto a plateau bordered by stone walls with lovely views.
(4) Walk across this plateau to the first houses of the village of Corcitos, then take a road on the left, lined with houses and flower-filled passages. The road descends to a stream where, on the right, you’ll find the Fonte das Vinhas. It is a covered well topped by a large wheel that can be turned using a crank.
(5) Immediately after the fountain, take the path on the left and head up to the right towards a small hillock with houses, which you leave on your left to reach a crossroads.
(6) Take the road to the right for a few metres, turn right again and follow the path down for 300 m to a small stream. Note the first abandoned well on the right. The well is unprotected but remains deep ( take care ); it is a circular well made of cut stone, topped by its rusted mechanism. There is another one a few metres to the right, also in the middle of a small meadow surrounded by low walls.
(7) The path climbs eastwards to another junction; turn right. Continue climbing, following the GPX track closely to enter Corcitos. Join the main road.
(8) Turn right onto it, then, after 100 m, turn left at the start of a long bend, and 50 m further on, right in the middle of the climb, turn left again.
(9) Shortly afterwards, take a magnificent balcony path with views over the village. Follow this path for a few hundred metres to reach another junction. Turn right, leaving the road furthest to the right which climbs, to follow the one that descends. A little further down is La Fonte da Silva, which is reached via a path on the left; this fountain is in good condition.
(10) Return to the road and continue the descent towards the valley floor, following a river. The path climbs slightly to reach the hamlet of Cerca Nova.
(11) Turn right onto the hairpin bend leading uphill, then take a path to the left at the next bend.
(12) About 500 m further on, turn onto a path on the left. Take care as you are now leaving the Route des 7 Sources; it is therefore advisable to follow the GPX track and/or this description. Cross a stream. The path curves sharply uphill towards the east and joins a road near the houses. Turn right, heading due south, and walk along this road for 200 m before taking the first small road on the left, at the corner of a house. At the next junction, turn right.
(13) Shortly afterwards, turn right again onto a marked route called “Serra e Montes”. The path climbs steeply for about a hundred metres. Turn left, then right again. Ahead of you, the straight path climbs steeply to the car park at the finish (S/E), after passing a junction (the Serra e Montes route branches off to the left at this junction).
