Departure from the car park in the village of Rocha da Pena, near the fountain in the centre of the village.
(S/E) From the fountain, take a road north and then a gravel path that climbs gently.
(1) Continue to a right-hand bend, then continue along the path heading due east and climbing up to the plateau.
(2) On the plateau, follow the signs for "Miradouro Norte". The path heads due north to the viewpoint. This is a belvedere with an information panel.
(3) At the viewpoint, turn around and return to the plateau.
(2) Take the small path on the right called "Planalto". This heads west through the magnificent scrub vegetation (yellow and red markings). You will reach the famous stone wall, which faces north-west.
(4) At the stone wall, there is an explanatory panel in English (defensive wall). Continue westwards. The path moves away from the edge of the ridge and begins a slight climb. After this, find the start of a small path on the left. Follow it for a good hundred metres and reach the summit (Talefe).
(5) At the summit (480 m) there is a kind of cylindrical beacon, like a small lighthouse! Once again, the view is superb. Turn back and take the path on the left that descends steeply towards the south-west.
(6) At a large bend to the left, the path heads south-east towards the village of Penina. Cross the pretty village, leave the road that branches off to the right at the bus shelter and continue straight ahead until you reach the exit. A few metres after the start of a grassy path on the left.
(7) Continue along this path, then quickly turn right onto a path that passes behind a large building. Join a wide path and follow it to the left, heading due east to the car park in the village of Rocha da Pena (S/E).
don't forget your sunglasses, hat and water.
