(S/E) With your back to the sports ground, head left onto Route de Taisnières. After about 250m, take a sharp right into Rue d’en Haut. At the fork, turn left. Walk down Rue Catenier. On the left, you’ll find La Compassion, a former nuns’ school. Turn right, then at Rue des Juifs, turn left towards Cité des 7 Logis
(1) Continue straight on along Cité des 7 Logis. At the fork, turn left onto Chemin de la Cornette (admire two typical Avesnois farms built of blue stone).
(2) Cross Route du Monceau and go under the railway bridge. Turn immediately right and follow the railway line on your right.
(3) At the junction, cross the D124 (Rue Charles Desquilbet) with care, then first turn left then right onto Chemin de la Lobiette. Follow this small road, ignoring all side roads.
(4) At the end, turn right: you are now on the Brunehaut local road. Continue straight on towards Fuchaux and cross the bridge over the railway line.
(5) At the junction, continue straight on into Grand Fuchau. At the next junction, turn right and cross the bridge over the Helpe to discover the Moulin de Fuchau. Retrace your steps.
(5) On your return, turn left into Grand Fuchau. Go straight on and ignore a turn-off on the right.
(6) Turn left onto Chemin de Petit Fuchau. Pass a cross on the left-hand side and you will come to a three-way junction (crossroads). Turn right, follow Rue Hector Dufresnes, ignoring the turn-offs on the right, and continue along Rue du Passe-Temps.
(7) At the junction, turn left onto Rue de la Brasserie. At the end of the street, turn right. At the next junction (church on the right, well worth a visit), turn left onto Route de Taisnières to return to the starting point (S/E).
