The start is at Place de l'Église, near the Town Hall. The main markings are yellow.
(S/E) Head west to reach the small square where there is a caricature bust of Benjamin Rabier (1864–1939), a well-known artist. Go down the steps on the church side, then take the D22 north and follow the first road on the right.
(1) Take the path on the left, cross the Ruisseau Traine-Feuilles stream and head up to Les Ravineaux. Cross the hamlet following the tarmac road as it begins to curve.
(2) At the end of this bend, turn right onto the path that heads west and then climbs north-west.
(3) When you reach the Mossay stables, follow the road to the right for 100m then take the path to the left (do not follow thePR®® route on the map as this path no longer exists). At the end of a descent, the track branches off to the right then climbs back up to the left through a copse.
(4) Turn left to walk alongside the Souverain stables and reach the D22, which you follow to the right for 100m.
(5) At the crossroads, take the path on the left which cuts across the access road to the hamlet of La Touche and rejoins a small road.
(6) Follow the road to the right for 800m.
(7) Take the path leading to La Sarinière and, at the farm, head straight down to reach the Ruisseau des Caves (just before this, you can see, through the vegetation, a cavity in the “cliff” rising up opposite).
The path climbs through the woods and then emerges in the middle of the fields.
(8) At La Tesserie, follow the small road to the right which takes you to Patagon and then joins the D22. Cross over and continue straight on to La Bardouzière. Continue eastwards along a path that winds its way through fields and vineyards.
(9) At the crossroads, head down to the right towards the south-east, then turn east to reach the Beauregard farm. Continue straight down the path.
(10) Just before crossing the Traine-Feuilles again, take the path on the left, ignore a path leading uphill on the left, then turn right towards a ford to cross the stream (there is also a footbridge!). Then take the path on the right, ignore a path on the left leading up to Les Poiriers, and continue straight on at the next junction.
(11) Turn left to head back up to the Cave Bodin (a partly cave-dwelling lodge) and continue along the tarmac access road. Pass a path on the left and turn right into the hamlet of Les Péguets. The road curves.
(12) At the crossroads, head down to the left into the woods. On the right, you can see old cellars carved into the limestone rock. Turn left onto a forest track.
(13) When you reach the edge of the woods, turn right to head back under the canopy and descend to the road. Follow it to the left for 100 m.
(14) Take the path on the left (GRP®® de Valençay). You will arrive at the Bénitier des Fées: continue straight on, and do the same at the next junction.
(15) When you see a pylon, at a clearing, follow the edge of the woodland on the right and go round the clearing; then a small path leads back under the canopy and down to a limestone meadow (protected wildflower area). The path continues to the left through the clearings.
(16) You rejoin the previous path at the pylon: head down towards the south-west (to the right) to reach the small road.
(1). Return to Faverolles-en-Berry and its church via the same route as on the way out (S/E).
