Description of the walk

Park in the car park on the edge of Boulevard de la Digue.

(S/E) Cross the Saint-Antoine bridge over the Tinée and head for marker 100 opposite the small church at the corner of Boulevard Issautier and Boulevard de la Digue.

(1) Turn right onto the paved Rabuons path towards the Dailoutre countryside. The path winds its way up under a thick canopy of hazelnut trees towards the Duminière plateau, dotted with old barns and abandoned planks. The path climbs gently as it enters the Sélasse larch forest to reach the Croix de Sélasse (1710 m) at marker 101.

(2) Turn left to cross the steep north-facing slope of Sélasse and cross a restored irrigation canal. Reach a slight descent towards the Ténibres valley.

(3) Cross the footbridge and climb up opposite towards Fournels and its highest barn (1742 m, marker 109).

(4) Begin the descent towards Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée via a scenic path that crosses Chaussavillans via numerous hairpin bends enclosed by stone walls to reach the outskirts of the village. Follow the Torrent des Ténibres to reach marker 108. Turn left and pass the communal wash house.

(1) Cross the Saint-Antoine bridge and head to the car park (S/E).

Hello VisoRando,

Nothing to complain about regarding the description and itinerary. It's easy to follow and a lovely walk with no difficulties.

From stage 2 to 3, the route runs under trees, which is very pleasant.

I particularly liked the part after stage 3.

The circular route is easy to follow thanks to Visiorando. The start is steep, with a few trees obstructing the path slightly. There is snow between sections 2 and 3, so caution is advised. The footbridge over the Tenibre stream is not 100% safe, but it is a perfect place to eat. I can confirm that the descent is done in one go at the end.
I recommend this beautiful hike.

It was a beautiful sunny day for this historic route, which we had travelled exactly 10 years ago. Well, we made a mistake. We didn't see the "official" fork in the road, which avoids approaching the Duminière, which is slowly sliding downhill. So we stuck to the old path, still well marked between its centuries-old walls, increasingly covered with leaves, then sometimes blocked by a few trees and quite a few branches. However, this didn't bother us much, as the recent severe weather could explain this obstruction, with the markers still in place.
The footbridge over the Tenibre torrent, made of larch trunk, seems badly damaged and fragile...
The descent is in one go (600m) and quite steep in places. Take care of your knees!!!

A lovely walk, best done in dry weather and with good footwear.

A very accessible hike (7km and 670m elevation gain). Be aware, however, that there is a steady climb right from the start. A beautiful view of Saint Etienne de Tinée.
