Route de Sainte-Honorine-du-Fay via Trois-Monts

Parking is available in the car park of the village hall on Rue des Écoles in Sainte-Honorine-du-Fay.

(S/E) Exit the village hall car park, take the pedestrian crossing and cross Rue des Écoles. Turn right, follow the footpath on the left-hand side of the road and walk for about 500 metres to the crossroads at the hamlet of Bretteville.

(1) At the bend, ignore Rue de Bretteville (on the left) and Rue du Champ Ruffier (on the right) and cross the crossroads to continue straight ahead on Rue des Dentellières. After about 100 metres, ignore Chemin du Château opposite, turn left onto Rue du Lavoir and continue to Route des Trois-Monts.

(2) Cross Route des Trois-Monts, turn onto Chemin de la Sapinière opposite and follow it straight ahead for about 1.5 km until you reach the D212 road. Turn left, but as the road curves to the right and in order to maintain visibility, it is best to stay on the left side of the road. Walk about 100 metres, cross the D212 carefully and continue to the left on the right-hand side of the road until you reach a path on the right at a place called Les Hauts Vents.

(3) Turn right at the hairpin bend and take Chemin de la Plage. Follow Chemin de la Plage, cross Ruisseau de Flagy and descend to the river.

(4) Follow the river on your left for about 1 km, then negotiate a right-hand bend and go up to a hairpin bend. Note the old farm shed on the right at the entrance to the bend and the abandoned tank at the edge of the ditch. Negotiate the bend, cross the stream and continue to the Vaugroult farm.

(5) Pass between the farm buildings, go around the Château du Vaugroult and go up Rue du Vaugroult to an intersection at number 17. Ignore the road on the right and continue straight ahead into Impasse de la Vallée.

(6) After the hedge, turn right onto Chemin des Trois Monteaux, ignore the path on the left and continue up to the first path on the right. At the entrance to Trois Monteaux, turn right onto Rue du Plein Air and continue to the crossroads, ignoring Rue Louis Blanchard on the right.

(7) Leave Rue Louis Blanchard, cross Route de l'École and continue straight ahead on Rue du Jardin Morin. Cross Rue du Parc, continue on Rue du Vieux Château and then go up to the church.

(8) Turn right onto Impasse du Presbytère, pass in front of the church and continue along the path. Walk along Ruisseau du Val Énault on your left, pass the ruins and ignore the path on the right at the fork. A few dozen metres further on, at the corner of a plot of land with the remains of a ruined house, turn left and enter the small, steep, grassy path that climbs up towards Le Quesnot.

(9) Walk along the property, exit Impasse du Quesnot and turn right onto Route de Sainte-Honorine. Follow the road for about 800 metres, passing Vaunoise on your left, until you reach a crossroads at La Goutelle.

(10) Leave Route de Sainte-Honorine and turn into the street opposite, which is a no-entry road. Cross La Goutelle, following the tarmac road that turns left, ignoring the grassy path opposite. At the end of Chemin de la Goutelle, turn right, cross Route des Trois-Monts about 30 metres further on and take Chemin des Monts. Follow Chemin des Monts for about 600 metres until you reach a crossroads.

(11) Turn right, cross the stream and walk up to number 9 Rue de Flagy. Turn left, follow Chemin des Belles Chaudières until you reach a path on the right a short distance from a road. Turn right at the hairpin bend onto Chemin du Clos de la Vigne and follow it until you reach a road.

(12) Cross Route de Flagy and continue straight ahead on Chemin de Flagy. At the end, turn right towards Chemin du Pressoir. After a few dozen metres, turn left onto Chemin des Écoliers. Follow the path for about 500 metres until you reach a commercial shed and turn right into the gap that leads to the village hall car park (S/E).

The Church of Notre-Dame de Trois-Monts
Alexandre de Gallery, a former cavalry officer of the Empire, retired to his castle in Trois-Monts and devoted his leisure time to remodelling this church. The church is a veritable museum of woodwork. The carved pulpit, topped with wooden statues, is in the Renaissance style, as is the new choir with its 24 stalls with twisted columns. The carved wooden portal is located under the tower, which probably dates from the^12th century.
The church stands isolated in the woods 500 metres west of the village. It was once part of the Trois-Monts estate, whose monumental castle and outbuildings were demolished after the^Second World War due to lack of maintenance. Only the remains of the surrounding walls remain.
