Larivour route

Starting from a family-friendly beach, this route showcases the best features of the lakes of the Forêt d’Orient: it offers a pleasant mix of walking through a diverse state-owned forest and along the shores of Lac d’Orient, with stunning views of the submerged forest at ‘high tide’.

Notes

At the start: over 10 picnic tables, a treetop adventure course.
On the beach: refreshment bar in summer, drinking water point, children’s play area, supervised swimming in July and August.

This route is not recommended:
- during the hunting season from October to February: check with the Maison du Parc for hunting dates
- after heavy rainfall: some water crossings will be muddy and slippery, or even difficult to cross

Unpaved paths: 62.3% (the tarmac section is on the cycle path and therefore very safe)

Worth a visit

- The Vélovoie is a dedicated, safe cycle path linking Troyes and the three reservoir lakes. Between Lusigny and Géraudot, it runs largely along the embankment of Lac d’Orient, offering beautiful views of the lake.
- Lac d’Orient is the first of the three lakes, built in 1966. Swimming is permitted at the three beaches developed by the Aube department and supervised in July and August.
- Grimpobranches is a tree-to-tree adventure course starting from the Larrivour route.
- The Larrivour State Forest is managed by the National Forestry Office.

A lovely walk through the woods, finishing off on the sea wall.
It’s a bit lacking in signposting or maintenance in places, but it’s still a lovely little walk.
Judging by the numerous tracks left by wild boar and other game, there must be plenty of activity in the evening and at night near this path...

The ride was great, a bit muddy
we took a wrong turn on the penultimate stretch but it wasn’t too bad as we managed to get back onto the cycle route;

An interesting route combining the flora (not at the moment, of course) and wildlife of the lakeside.
Be careful on hunting days......
