Description of the walk

Start from the car park on Rue des Douves, opposite the Courbeveille cemetery.

(S/E) With the car park behind you and the cemetery on your right, take Rue des Douves to the left and continue to the ‘Stop’ sign at the junction with Rue d’Anjou. Turn right, then left 70 metres further on into Rue du Verger. Follow this street all the way to the end and, at the ‘Stop’ sign at the junction with Rue de Bretagne, turn left. Continue for about 60 metres until you reach a three-way junction by a wayside cross and take the right-hand fork. Carry on straight ahead until you reach a stony track on the right (signposted ‘La Chaussée’).

(1) Turn right onto this track and you’ll reach the houses 400 metres further on. The stony track continues as a dirt path lined with trees. Carry on straight ahead along this path (please note that a section of the path is not shown on the map) and you’ll then come out onto a small tarmac road.

(2) Turn right onto the small road; after 650m, at the three-way junction, veer right to stay on the main track. After 650m, pass the Auberdière farm (on the left) and arrive at a track branching off to the right.

(3) Take this track and follow it all the way to the end, where it joins a small road (D251).

(4) Cross the road and continue straight on for just over 300m. The road curves to the right and a track branches off straight ahead to the left of a large oak tree.

(5) Take this path. After about 800 metres, another path branches off to the right. Take this and head towards the hamlet of La Jusseaumière,

(6) The path continues as a small road, which you take to the left. At the T-junction, turn left to return to the large oak tree.

(5) Follow the road to the left until you reach the junction with the D251.

(4) Turn left and head towards the village of Courbeveille. At the junction by the church, turn left to reach the car park on Rue des Douves (S/E).

We were forced to change our route following the heavy rain over the last few weeks. There weren’t many alternatives apart from the road.
A nice, easy walk with no difficulties

On foot, this route isn’t particularly interesting unless you enjoy walking on tarmac! The last kilometre is along the road linking Ahuillé to Courbeveille, so there’s frequent traffic from cars, lorries and motorbikes…

The all-too-rare dirt tracks you do take are, however, very pleasant.

This route is best included as part of a mountain bike ride.

It’s a shame we have to finish with a short kilometre on a temporary road.
