The starting point is at the end of the car park at the water sports centre, located between a campsite and a nature holiday village, to the left of the entrance.
(S/E) Take the southernmost white dirt track and follow the red and yellow markings ofthe GR® de Pays de la Brenne or the blue markings. Continue along this path, between meadows on the left and the pond on the right, for about 1km until you reach the fitness trail.
(1) Follow the fitness trail (blue or red and yellow markings) which winds its way under the oak and pine trees for 1 km.
(2) After a left turn, you will rejoin the path you left earlier, which you take on the right.
Then, after 100 metres, turn right to reach the first wooden observatory, where you can admire the local wildlife. Return by the same route to the path on your right.
(3) When you reach an intersection, continue straight ahead on the red and yellow marked trail, leaving the blue markings on your right. Walk along Les Loges du Grand Brun to reach a small road. Turn right and you will see the Étang du Grand Brun on your left.
At the next intersection, take the D21 on the right: you are now on an old straight "farm" road built during the Napoleonic era. After 600 metres, turn right towards the second observatory on a path at the edge of the forest. At a large forest path, turn right to reach the wooden building. Then retrace your steps and take the forest path opposite, which leads back to the D21.
(4) Take the road on the right for about 400 metres.
(5) Turn right onto a wide forest lane and continue for about 200 metres.
(6) Continue left along the small path that leads into the woods (blue markings) and winds through a variety of tree species and crosses two tiny hills (buttons).
(7) When you reach a wide lane, take it to the left: it then turns north-west. At the end of the straight line, turn right to walk along the edge of the woods and reach the Bellebouche Pond at a miniature golf course.
(8) Leave the blue marked path opposite and turn right towards the last observatory, following the signs with a picture of binoculars. Once you reach the third observatory, take the same path back in the opposite direction.
(9) About 1200m after leaving the observatory, take a path on the right through the copse towards the pond that can be seen in the distance. Once at the edge, walk along the pond to the restaurant, then past the outdoor playground for children, and head towards the toilets to join the blue-markedPR® path and continue to the right. This path takes you back to the car park along the pond road and its drains (S/E).
) and the edge of the pond. However, due to this summer's drought, no birds were spotted from the observatories as the water level was very low.
