Arriving from Ottrot via the D35 wine route, park in the sports ground car park on the right as you enter Heiligenstein after passing the "Banc de l'Impératrice".
(S/E) With your back to the valley, walk along the left side of the sports field where you will find a path marked with a blue disc that will take you into a deciduous forest. Reach the Urlosenholz forest house and then go to a crossroads.
(1) Take the path on your left marked with a blue disc.
(2) Walk along the edge of the woods with a beautiful view on your left. Continue on your left towards a large farm adjacent to the ruins of Truttenhausen Abbey.
(3) At this point, you will cross the Way of St. James, which you will follow southwards by turning right. This is also part of the Barr geological trail. Continue for about 800 metres, then leave the edge of the woods and enter the forest until you reach a crossroads.
(4) At the crossroads, a sign on your right indicates "Belle vue du Moenkalb" (beautiful view of Moenkalb). Take this fairly steep path. You will arrive at the "Belle Vue" kiosk.
(5) Enjoy the view and the orientation table at this highest point of the hike.
Then retrace your steps back to the previous crossroads.
(4) Turn right onto a path marked Anneau Bleu towards Heiligenstein. At the next crossroads, keep left until you reach a paved forest road. Turn left. After 300 metres, you will arrive at a car park with a beautiful view of the valley.
(6) Pass the reservoir on your right and enter the village. Follow the main road to reach the car park after passing the church on your right (S/E).
