Description of the walk

Park at Place de la République.

(S/E) Follow the Faubourg de Truyère to the Pont de Truyère (13th century).

(1) Cross the bridge, taking the Passage des Frères Pontifs on the right as you go up. On the other bank, take care when crossing the junction; take the small road opposite which climbs alongside a stream before veering away from it. You will arrive at the Rieu de la Coste.

(2) The road becomes a farm track. Follow it to the right to reach the Route de Pargues.

(3) Turn right, leave the hamlet junction on your right and continue uphill for about 400 m.

(4) At the second hairpin bend, take the forest track opposite. Follow this winding track through the pine forest up to the village of Ginolhac.

(5) Turn right behind the church and, at the cemetery, you’ll reach a stunning viewpoint over the surrounding valleys and plateaus.

(6) Continue north on this small road to the hamlet of Le Rouquet.

(7) Turn left below the houses and follow this small road down to Montsoncles.

(8) On leaving the hamlet, head up to the right into the oak and chestnut forest and continue along the path leading to Cassomouls.

(9) Follow the road to the left, then turn right to pass La Pesse and join the D904.

(10) Cross the main road carefully, keep to the right behind the crash barrier and follow the road downstream along the river until you reach the junction with the D34E.

(11) Take the hairpin bend to the left and continue to the dam.

(12) Cross the dam, turn right and follow the river.

(1) Pass under the first arch of the bridge to return to Faubourg de Truyère and then Place de la République (S/E).
