Start from the square by the town hall and the church.

(S/E) Set off along the small lane between the town hall and the church, which passes in front of the war memorial. At the end of the square, follow the pavement to the right, passing the Maison des Associations, the playground and the football stadium. At the end of Avenue du Stade, turn left into Rue du Flaneur and pass the cemetery.

(1) At the crossroads, continue straight on, then straight on again into a sunken lane. You will enter an authentic bocage landscape where the path is flanked by embankments and hedgerows.

(2) At the end of the lane, turn left and cross the D 810 (watch out for traffic).

(3) Turn right onto the "Chemin du Seureur" and continue straight on along the dirt track. At the end of this track, take the small road to the left.

(4) Turn right onto the path that runs alongside a wood and then crosses open fields. Back on the tarmac, head left.

(5) At the crossroads in front of the poultry farm, take the path on the left. At the end of the path, cross a small road and continue straight on for 200 m.

(6) Take the path on the left which leads you back into the hedgerow countryside. At the crossroads, turn right and continue to a small road.

(7) At the end of Impasse du Seureur, take the small road to the left, which offers a lovely view of the countryside as far as the bell tower of Lieurey.

(3) At the Hauts Vents crossroads (where the route meets the outward path), turn onto the path on the right.

(8) At the end of the path on the plain, take the small road on the right to go straight through the hamlet of La Chapelle. At the large five-way junction in front of the ruined chapel, turn left onto Rue de la Lèproserie.

(9) Cross the main road in front of the statue of the Virgin Mary. Then turn left onto the small road called "Chemin des Tisserands". At the end of the street, take the pavement to the left to enter the village and reach the main square via Île Bavarde (S/E).

Alternative route:
(3) At a place called Les Hauts Vents, where the two circular routes (the short and the long) meet, turn right to follow the long route (9 km) or left to return directly to Lieurey (short route of 4 km).
