To start the walk, head to Mittelbergheim and park near the cemetery or in the village centre in the designated car park.
(S/E) With your back to the cemetery, join the road on your left and follow it to the left. At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue Holzweg. Turn right at the three-way junction, then turn left at the next intersection to return to Rue Holzweg, then turn right. Follow the Blue Cross signs. The path enters the forest directly from Rue du Holzweg. A little further up, you will pass the water collection station (reservoir) on the left side of the path.
Continue and ignore a path on the right.
(1) At the next crossroads, continue to follow the blue cross signs to the Carrefour des Trois Chênes.
(2) At the Carrefour des Trois Chênes, head towards Hungerplatz, still following the Blue Cross.
(3) When you reach a crossroads, take the path on your left marked with a red easel sign to arrive directly at Andlau Castle.
(4) Take the time to visit the ruins and listen to the explanations on your smartphone by scanning the QR codes scattered around the castle. Take the path on the right as you leave the castle, towards Hungerplatz, still marked with the red easel. At the first crossroads, take the path marked with the blue triangle and the red ring on the right. This will take you directly to Hungerplatz.
(5) At Hungerplatz, take the path that branches off to the left after the first meadow, heading south-west, before you reach the inn. It is signposted several times and leads to a bend in the forest road. At this bend, turn left towards Spesbourg Castle (large sign indicating the direction of the castle).
(6) Take the time to visit the ruins of this medieval castle, then retrace your steps for 50 metres and turn right onto the path marked with the Yellow Ring and Red Ring signs. Continue to follow the signs and you will arrive at the Rocher de Sainte-Richarde, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Andlau at your feet and Spesbourg Castle further down in the valley on the hilltop.
(7) Leaving Rocher de Sainte-Richarde, stay on the Anneau Jaune until you reach the Col du Crax.
(8) At the pass, take the path marked with a red disc to return to the path you took at the start of the walk.
(1) Turn right to follow the outward route in reverse until you reach your vehicle (S/E).
