Park in the town hall square (Place Pierre Descellier).
(S/E) Take Rue du Bel, to the left of the town hall (south-east).
(1) Turn right and follow the sign for "Château".
Climb the log staircase to reach the castle, walk around it and enjoy the views of the valleys and ponds.
(1) Turn right onto Rue Du Bel and continue for 350 metres.
(2) At the fork, turn right onto the road leading up to the cemetery. Cross the cemetery in silence. At the end, go down the steps on the left at the bench.
(3) Take Rue de Greny on the right and, after 70 m, at the three-way junction, follow the path on the right which climbs for 1,500 m. Before reaching the tarmac road, take the path which descends into the quarry on the left and then turns sharply.
(4) When you reach the paved road, turn left and join the D154 in the valley. Cross the road and immediately take the road on the left (signposted Martigny).
After 200 metres, turn left towards Prieuré Sainte-Claire, Rue Charles Lebon (if you are visiting, you can continue straight ahead to the river at the end of the street).
At the church, turn right onto Allée de Sainte-Claire and continue to the priory.
(5) At the Sainte-Claire priory, continue along Allée de Sainte-Claire for 100 metres, then take the hairpin bend to the right onto Rue Léandre Bimont. At the junction with Rue Charles Lebon, follow the path on the left which leads to the town hall.
(6) Cross the D154, take the path opposite, just to the left of the town hall (Chemin de la Messe) and climb into the forest for 700m. At the end of the path at the intersection, take the path on the right for 20m, then follow the path that branches off to the left. Stay on this path (on the right, about 150 m away, you will see a remarkable beech tree). Continue for 500 m until you reach the paved road.
(7) Turn left onto the paved road and continue for 500 metres. At the intersection, turn quickly left then right to follow Rue Jean Manneville for about 50 metres.
(8) At the Les Mazies sign, turn left onto Chemin du Mont Blanc. After a descent into the woods, continue on the left.
(9) Take the path on the left at the intersection. Follow the path towards the valley and join the D154.
(10) Cross the D154 and take the path opposite (pumping station on the right). When you reach the river, take the large stone bridge on the right and continue along the path for 300 metres.
When the road turns right, turn left onto Rue du Marais (before the house on the left) towards the ponds and follow them on the right at the end of the pond.
(11) At the end of the pond, cross the wooden footbridge and the small bridge on the right. Continue along the path opposite, follow the path that turns right along the pond and continue until you reach the D149 road.
(12) Turn left, pass in front of La Chatellenie and join Avenue Verte. Follow it on the left for 2.5 km, passing the Varenne leisure centre, the swimming pool and then the football pitch.
(13) Just after the football pitch, take the path on the left and follow it alongside the football pitch. At the end, take the footbridge on the left. Turn left, cross the car park and, at the end, turn right and follow the pond.
At the end of the pond, turn right behind the houses and follow the path that runs alongside them.
(14) At the end of the housing estate, take the path on the left towards the iron bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path that turns right at a right angle.
(15) Take the path with steps on the left that climbs between two old walls. Cross the D154, take the path opposite that climbs uphill and, once at the top, turn right and continue straight ahead to return to the town hall car park (S/E).
