Description of the walk

Park at Place Mayenne in Martin-Église.

(S/E) At the far end of the square, head left, behind the bread oven, and take the cobbled path that leads to Rue Henri IV. Turn right for 50 metres and cross at the pedestrian crossing.

(1) Take Allée Jeanne d'Arc, which begins with a small bridge over the Eaulne. Continue over asecond bridge to follow Route de la Forêt until you reach the first path on the left.

(2) Turn left onto Chemin d’Imbleval. After about 1,400 m, Pontrancart Castle comes into view on the left.
Continue for 750 m and turn left onto Route d’Heugleville, heading towards the banks of the Eaulne. The municipality of Ancourt maintains a lawn on the banks of the Eaulne, which is a pleasant spot for a picnic.

(3) Cross the bridge to reach the D54 Route de Dieppe. Turn right for 500 m, then turn left onto Rue de la Gare and cross the railway line.

(4) At the end of the street, follow the path up above the village until you reach the D920; follow this to the left without crossing. Pass the water tower and arrive at a crossroads.

(5) Take the path on the left which turns right, turn left a few metres further on and continue for 500 m. This Chemin du Mont d’Eu descends and veers right in front of the small wood.

(6) Follow this main path downhill for 1,200 m until you reach the D54 Route Palcheul. Turn right, leaving the Chemin des Faux Saulniers on your right, cross the railway line via the metal bridge and arrive at a roundabout.

(7) Walk down Rue Abbé Malais to rejoin Rue Henri IV, then turn right to reach Place Mayenne on the left (S/E).

A lovely walk with views of the castle. Very well signposted.
One slight downside: the section on the A-road isn’t safe at all.

A nice little walk – the only problem is a 300–400-metre stretch along the main road, which can be quite dangerous
