Fields and woods of Guerchy

A lovely walk round the village through fields and woods, taking in the old Tacot path, Champloiseau station and the Way of St James cross.
This walk goes past the back of Guerchy Pond and returns via the road to Fleury-la-Vallée.
A fairly shaded route, ideal for summer, and very pleasant.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at Guerchy Town Hall.

(S/E) Walk up Rue Saint-Germain to the junction with Rue du Moulin de Guerchy.

(1) Turn left onto this street. Continue to the hamlet known as Le Moulin. Carry on straight ahead, cross the Ravillon via the bridge, then reach a junction of paths.

(2) Turn left immediately afterwards to take the old Tacot railway line. Arrive at Champloiseau, at the junction with the D19, where you’ll see the old Guerchy railway station (now a residential property).
Head straight ahead, following a small private pond on your left until you reach a three-way junction at the bend in the road by the Croix du Chemin de Compostelle.

(3) Take the path that follows the Chemin du Tacot, continue along this path through the woods, and reach the two small bridges over the Ravillon.

(4) Cross them and carry on towards the motorway. Walk along the left-hand side of the Aire de Repos des Pâtures, then past the Moulin de Vauban. Turn left and cross the Taraut to reach the junction with the D31.

(5) Turn left onto it and follow it until the next junction with the D331.

(6) Turn right onto the D331, which becomes Rue de la Tuilerie as you enter Guerchy. At the junction opposite the Post Office, take Rue Saint-Germain, which leads back to the Town Hall car park (S/E).

A brilliant route – both loops are magnificent.
The end of the walk along the road is a bit of a nuisance.

A pleasant walk by the water and through the greenery... The towers of the old castle... The owner is grumpy and won’t let you take photos of his property!!!!!
