To reach the start, head to the junction of Avenue des Marronniers and Rue des Comtesses de Flandre in the town of Seclin. At the junction, follow signs for Parc de la Deûle and Canal de Seclin. The car park is located 150 m further upstream on Chemin du Halage.
(S/E) From the car park, walk along the right bank of the canal heading north-west. At the first bridge, leave the banks, turn right and then immediately left onto the path closed off by a barrier (yellow markings).
(1) First turn left then right onto the D147 (take care) and head along the path on the right, just after the pumping station. Continue straight on, running parallel to the canal. After about 1 km, the path bends to the right then to the left, leading to another pumping station.
(2) Turn left, cross the canal via the white bridge, continue for about 150 m, then veer left to reach the canal banks.
(3) Turn left, go under the bridge you have just crossed and follow the left bank of the canal to a footbridge spanning a small stream (naviette) draining surface water and connecting to the canal. Just before this stream, turn left and follow a path running alongside the ditch to a second naviette.
(4) Turn left, then left again towards the canal. Before reaching the canal, turn right to reach the bank.
(3) Continue to the right towards the south-east, keeping the canal on your left.
(5) Go under the D147 bridge and continue along the edge of the canal to the next bridge.
(6) Do not go under the concrete bridge but turn right before it onto Chemin des Postes, heading south-west. Walk for about 150 m across the fields, then turn left at the junction. Continue south-east along the tarmac, tree-lined path called Chemin du Bois de l’Hôpital. Walk past the psychiatric clinic and continue straight on until you reach the entrance to the Seclin-Carvin Hospital Complex.
(7) Turn left into Rue des Marronniers. Walk past the former Notre-Dame des Flandres Hospital and Château Guillemaud on Rue Marx Dormoy.
(8) Turn right into Rue Fénelon, then left into Ruelle d’Houplin (a narrow lane marked by a ‘no cycling’ sign). At the end of the alley, turn right onto Rue Sadi-Carnot, then left onto Ruelle des Clochettes, to the right of the “Les Jardins de Jade” sign. You will emerge in front of the façade of the Collégiale Saint-Piat.
(9) Head towards the car park to the right of the collegiate church and walk alongside the church. Turn right towards the municipal library car park and pass to the left of the village hall. On Rue Jean Jaurès, turn left twice to continue along Rue des Bourloires.
(10) Head down Rue de l’Abbé Bonpain on the left. Cross Boulevard Hentges, follow Rue Saint-Louis straight ahead, then turn right to reach Place Stalingrad.
(11) Turn right into Rue Joliot Curie, then left into Ruelle de Tournai. At the roundabout, turn right towards the cemetery.
(12) Take the path on the left just after No. 83. Cross Rue du 8 mai 1945, continue straight ahead towards the north-west along the urban green corridor, which follows the route of the old railway line.
(13) At the end of the green corridor, carefully cross Rue des Martyrs de la Résistance, enter Parc de la Ramie and continue for 100 m. Turn left after the large chimney to reach the grounds of Château Guillemaud. Once there, turn right into Rue Marx Dormoy, then right again at the junction to reach the car park (S/E).
