Park at the Mosaïc car park in Houplin-Ancoisne (coming from Santes, just after the Deûle bridge, turn left at the roundabout).
(S/E) On foot, leave the Mosaic car park, head towards the bridge over the Deûle, cross it to reach the left-hand side of the road.
(1) Follow the path down past the Deûle Park visitor centre (formerly Maison Montblond), where you can stop if you wish.
The path then reaches a crossroads; turn right.
Pass the pond below, then the observatory where you can stop and use binoculars. The path curves slightly to the left and you’ll reach another crossroads.
(2) Take the lower path; you can complete the short circular loop as you wish (it doesn’t matter which way).
(3) This will allow you to walk alongside the ponds at the lodge (fishing spot) and cross over the water (a footbridge that lets you cut across between the short circular loop and the long circular loop – marked ‘Plle’ on the map).
If you’d rather not head straight back up to the large circular loop, turn around and finish the small circular loop. You’ll return to the crossroads at point 2.
(2) Complete the large circular route by turning right. You can pass by Le Perchoir, where the view of the Bois is magnificent, then you will reach the Deûle Canal.
(4) Do not go down onto the towpath; stay on the path. You will walk along the Deûle at a higher level until you reach your starting point, passing by the Belvédère where you can stop and watch the birds.
Return to the car park via the same route (S/E).
