Parking in the circular bend of the D215. A large grassy area provides easy parking for many cars.
(S/E) From the car park, cross the road and go up the gravel path opposite. Always stay on the widest path, going uphill in the same general direction. You will pass a large horizontal path on your right, which will be your return route.
(1) Continue along the main path in the same direction. Further on, this wide path becomes a trail shortly before reaching the Cabane de la Combe du Fer.
(2) Look for the entrance to the chasm.
With your back to the hut and the chasm on your left, follow the path uphill. In the sharp limestone pavement, follow the cairns carefully. The path winds uphill a few times, then, after a short flat section, descends to the right. It is then marked by cairns and blue markings. The view then opens up. Reach the Cabane du Serre du Play.
(3) Turn right and descend via a well-marked path, which becomes a track at an altitude of 1365 metres.
(4) Follow this track, which becomes a good path through the forest. Continue downhill.
(5) Cross a grassy strip, then stay on the same path and continue to a fork.
(6) Take the grassy path on the right towards a clearing, cross it and exit via a path that climbs briefly into the forest, then immediately levels out on the left. Follow it (blue and red markings), a slightly undulating path. Join the large gravel path uphill at the initial fork.
(1) Turn left to descend, following the same route as on the way up, on the gravel path, and return to the car park (S/E).
