The route starts from the Corrençon-en-Vercors golf course car park.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, head south and take theGR®91towards Cabane de Carette. The path is well marked and there are regular signposts indicating the walking time.
(1) Continue on theGR® and ignore the path on your left, which will be the return route. Continue straight ahead and stay on the main track until you reach the marker symbolising the 45th parallel.
(2) Note the marker on the edge of the path and continue to a place called Carette. Leave theGR® 91 and take the small path on the left that leads to the Cabane de Carette, about 50 metres away.
(3) Pass in front of this hut, which serves as a refuge, and head east towards the forest, then take a small, well-marked path that climbs through the undergrowth, heading south-east. From there, there are no more markings on the paths, but they are well marked and leave no room for hesitation. Continue along this path, which climbs through the undergrowth and then along the foot of the cliffs, leading to the Grand Pot. You will then have a clear view of the Rochers de la Balme ridges on the left and the Rocher du Playnet on the right. The Pas Ernadant is at the foot of the latter, on the right.
(4) Take the well-marked path on the right for a round trip. This path leads directly to Pas Ernadant.
(5) Enjoy the view of the valley on the Grenoble/Vif side and turn back to the Grand Pot.
(4) Back at Grand Pot, pass slightly below the ruins and take the well-marked path on the right, heading north, which descends steadily through the woods and turns into a track, then a forest road.
(6) Continue along the forest road heading north. The path goes around the first holes of the Corrençon-en-Vercors golf course and takes you back to theGR® trail you took on the way there.
(1) Follow theGR® 91 on the right and arrive at the golf course car park (S/E).
We hiked back in the opposite direction to the large pot, not climbing up to the Pas d'Ernadant, but descending via the Carette hut. However, the descent was difficult and very steep, with unstable rocks underfoot, as we saw people on the way down. At the pot, we saw two hikers, but otherwise there weren't many people around for a May Day holiday.
