Start from the Versoud stadium, Rue des Deymes. Parking is available at the side of the road.
(S/E) With your back to the stadium, head right, cross the level crossing, and turn right. Follow the railway line on your right and, at the footbridge over the line, turn left to reach a four-way junction.
(1) Turn right onto Rue Guynemer, then follow the River Isère on your left. Cross the level crossing, then continue along the D165 towards La Combe de Lancey. Leave the village and look for a small path on the right.
(2) Take this path and climb up to the (private) castle in the hamlet of Mas de Montacol.
(3) Turn right and follow the road to the viewpoint, located at No. 1475, at La Carrelière.
(4) Continue straight ahead, cross the hamlet and carry on along the path until you reach a three-way junction.
(5) Keep left and continue to the end of Chemin du Couvat, at the next hamlet of Saint-Jean-le-Vieux.
(6) Keep to the right and continue downhill to the three-way junction a few metres past the household waste bins at Le Mollard.
(7) Head uphill to the left and quickly continue along a path. Follow it uphill to the junction marked by the Grands Bois signpost.
(8) Turn left onto the path that climbs and runs along the edge of the woodland. Pass under the high-voltage power line and arrive at the junction marked by the signpost for Le Naysord.
(9) Climb left onto the ridge path as it ascends, and reach a road.
(10) Continue to the right (D280, Route des Balcons de Belledonne) until you reach house number 2940.
(11) Turn onto the small road that climbs to the left, then continue along the path to the summit. Turn right and follow the ridge to a four-way junction. Turn left towards the Col du Rousset.
(12) At the corner of No. 635, turn left, walk past the household waste recycling bins, then take the path that climbs between No. 751 and No. 783. Cross the road twice to reach Les Granges Freydières and its large car park.
(13) Continue to the left, along the path closed to all motorised vehicles, and walk alongside Lac de Freydières on your right. At the three-way junction ahead, keep to the right, pass the Col de Pré Raymond, and descend to the junction marked by the La Hêtraie signpost.
(14) Take the path on the left and you’ll reach a road at the La Moya signpost.
(15) Continue to the right (D280) until you come to a path crossing the road.
(16) Turn onto the path on the left and head down to the road at the hamlet of Mas Lary. Walk downhill through the hamlet, then take the small track – closed to all motorised vehicles – which descends to the right, heading due north, and you’ll soon reach the hamlet of Mas Vannier and its signpost.
(17) Continue straight ahead (Chemin de la Mare), then keep left onto the path closed to all motorised vehicles at the three-way junction. Walk down until you reach the viewpoint at La Carrelière, after taking a wide left-hand bend to go round the hilltop.
(4) Carry on to the left until you reach the three-way junction.
(5) Leave the route you have already taken, keep to the right, and head down to the end of Chemin du Roussillon at Versoud.
(18) Cross the small bridge over the stream and turn right immediately. At the next junction, first turn right then left onto the D523 and take the pedestrian lane. Then head straight on along Rue des Deymes, past the town hall, and arrive at the stadium (S/E).
