Description of the walk

Park on Allée des Platanes in Juillac.
Initially, this path follows the same route as thePR®3“La Tourmente”.

(S/E) Continue north along Allée des Platanes. Reach the Y-junction at the corner of the cemetery, turn left and follow the west wall of the cemetery. Cross the road, continue straight ahead and pass in front of the old water tower. Reach a junction at the fire station.

(1) Turn right, go straight on at the junction and join the D901. Cross with care, follow the road to the left, then turn right towards La Vialle. Between the two ponds, take the path on the right for 600 m, towards the village of Montcheyrol.

(2) Leave the track and take a path on the far left, heading towards the village of La Vialle. Enjoy the view over the Dordogne department and the Yssandonnais region.
At the next junction, turn right and continue to the village of La Vialle. In the village, turn right again and, at the last houses, take the path (opposite). Walk downhill for about 300 m and, at the junction halfway down the slope, go straight on. The path then leads onto a small road.

(3) Turn left, following the road uphill for about 100 m, then take the path on the right, following the Tourmente stream until you reach the road to cross, continuing straight ahead. Cross this same road again and continue straight ahead until you reach the path to take, heading uphill to the left.

(4) Panorama from east to west over the Dordogne, the Yssandon and Saint-Robert hills and the Brive basin.
Follow the path for about 300 m and, at the junction, turn right.

(5) View of the village of Juillac with its bell tower and, in the foreground, the Château de Peyrusse des Cars, known as the ‘Château de la Salle’.
Continue to the D 71 road.

(6) Cross it carefully and continue straight ahead. At the vineyard, leave the path and take the road, walking downhill for about 150 m, then take the first path leading down to the left which leads to Rue des Burdoux.

(7) On arriving in Juillac, turn left onto the Grand Rue towards the village centre, then head up Rue de la République and take the first left (Rue du Pigeonnier), which leads directly to Allée des Platanes (S/E).

Thank you for your comment. We’re glad you enjoyed the walk; that’s our reward.
If you’re in the area, do try the other two trails, La Tourmente and Le Forestier.
You shouldn’t be disappointed.

A lovely and very varied route. The elevation gain makes for a nice, challenging walk. Ideal for beginners like us. The route is well signposted => Easy to follow. Thanks for the idea and the app, which I think is brilliant. In August, you can do it in trainers. There are some beautiful horses near checkpoint 5 and slugs everywhere in the forest :-)
