Departure from the car park at the port of La Haye-Fouassière.
(S/E) From the port car park, walk up the street along the Sèvre river and cross the bridge. After 100 metres, take the path on the left into the vineyards. Then first turn left then right to continue through the vineyards towards the Sèvre.
At the end of this path, start climbing the slope on the right until you reach a small wood. Continue in this direction until you reach the village of La Noë des Buttes.
(1) On the road, after the first houses, turn left, then take the path on the right, and then descend to the left towards the Sèvre. Follow the river to the hamlet of Gué Joubert,
(2) Continue along the Sèvre until you find a road on the right. Take this road for 250 metres, then turn left onto the path. After about 300 metres, you will find the "Grotte de Lourdes".
(3) Continue to the Monnières football pitches. Once you have passed them, continue along the access road to the hamlet of Les Yolais and continue along the wooded path opposite. After the small wood, continue opposite through the vineyards until you reach the first houses in Monnières.
(4) At the crossroads between the path and the road:
- outside flood periods, turn left along the vineyards before the road to the Sèvre, pass under the bridge, and go up to the right to cross it (route indicated on the map).
- during periods of high water, take the second path on the left, join the road (Rue de la Sèvre) and cross the bridge.
(5) After the bridge, follow the path on the right along the Sèvre to the reservoir.
(6) At the end of February 2019, with the sun shining, we were in T-shirts and took the opportunity to dip our feet in the water (which was admittedly quite cold!). Then retrace your steps back to the Monnières bridge.
(5) After the bridge, continue along the road to the right for 200 metres and take the first left towards Port Domino.
(7) In the village of Port Domino, after leaving the banks of the Sèvre, take the first right and continue to the next hamlet: La Jeannière.
(8) Before leaving the village, take the path on the left, leaving a house below on your left. After the last houses, take the path on the left and follow it to the road. Cross the road and continue along the path opposite. Leave the ruined building on your left and continue along the vineyards until you return to the road.
(9) Turn left onto the road, cross the D 149, then the railway line, and continue for 200 metres.
(10) At the junction, turn right for 20 metres, then left onto the path that starts after the buildings. After about 400 metres, continue on the left, then right opposite the entrance to the Château de la Cassemichère, continue along the road on the left - without going under the four-lane road. Follow the path then the road to the hamlet of Petit Bois.
(11) Take the road on the right, then left at the crossroads, then left again and then right to pass under the railway line.
(12) Immediately turn right onto the path along the railway line, continue and cross the D149, then carry on. Cross the D 359 and continue along the path towards the water tower. Then take the road on the left and the first right towards the Breil mills.
(13) At the intersection by the mills, take the path through the vineyards on the left towards the Sèvre and continue until you reach the hillside overlooking the Sèvre. Turn right.
(14) Once you reach the village, take Rue des Coteaux for 250 metres to reach Place de la Rairie and turn left at the calvary onto Rue de Bel-Air, then left onto the path towards the departmental road. Cross this road to return to the starting point via Rue des Bords de l'Eau (S/E).
