Loop between flower-filled mountain pastures and woods, passing by Lake Majingsee.

Access the Gemmi cable car station via Gemmistrasse.

(S/E) Go behind the lower station and take the path that leads into the meadow, continuing horizontally for a few metres. Pass in front of a building and arrive at Teretschenstrasse. Follow it to the left for about 60 m, just before the garages.

(1) Take the passage on the right, then follow the wide street on the left (Ringstrasse) in a wide curve to the right. Further on, at the crossroads after the Oberi Marisse bus stop, keep left on Ringstrasse for about 150 m. You will see the Orion building on your left (it is written on the façade). A good hundred metres further on, you will come to a signpost indicating Dorfallmeiweg.

(2) Follow this road uphill to the left, enter the forest and come to a fork. Take the road on the right to avoid a steep climb. At the next crossroads, take the hairpin bend on the left which leads to a road.

(3) Follow it to the left. Pass a restaurant and a large reservoir, continue along this road and you will reach Lake Majingsee.

(4) Continue straight ahead (lake on your right), follow the path that crosses the other side via a bridge over the Dala and heads left onto the other bank. You will arrive at a crossroads (signposted Wasserfall 15 min).

(5) Continue on the left-hand path and, at the next fork, continue straight ahead, staying on the path uphill, which remains more or less horizontal, until you reach the junction marked with a sign indicating the direction of the Buljes restaurant.

(6) At this crossroads, ignore the path on the right and continue to the next crossroads.

(7) There are two options (marked):
Alternative: follow the marked trail to the right, just before the Buljes restaurant. At the next junction, turn left and follow the marked trail. At the next junction (elevation 1584 on the map), continue straight ahead until (9) or follow the path on the left until (8).
Route on the map: the disadvantage is that it continues on a road with no shade.
Continue straight ahead until you reach Klibenstrasse. There, leave the signposts and follow Klibenstrasse to the right. Ignore the streets on the left and right, pass a large roundabout and you will arrive in the woods (in the shade).

(8) Continue straight ahead along the road. At the bend, leave the road and take the path that starts almost in line with it. Cross the marked path.

(9) Turn left, keep going straight, cross the bed of a^first stream and arrive at a bench.

(10) Continue, cross the bed of a^second stream and continue for about 500 m. Cross the path that descends from Gemmipass (elevation 1538), follow it to the left, and descend to a crossroads.

(11) Turn left onto the right-hand trail and follow it back to a charming picnic area.

(12) Enjoy a well-deserved rest, then retrace your steps.

(11) Head downhill to the left towards Leukerbad and the cable car. When you reach Gemmistrasse, go up to the left via Gemmibahnen and arrive at the lower station (S/E).

If you are staying in the city centre, you can reach the circuit on foot from the bridge on the Ringstrasse (over the Dala) or at (2), for example.

The Gemmipass-Daubensee cable car car park is reserved for people going up to the Gemmipass.

Parking after the bridge over the Dala, along the Ringstrasse, at Obri Marisse (on the map) between points (1) and (2): barriers prevent use until mid-June 2025. Please enquire if you are interested.

The route crosses the beds of large streams at (9) and afterwards, as indicated on the map. They were completely dry in June, but check before setting off.

There is a cable car to the Gemmipass, which provides access to Lake Daubense and a complex offering accommodation, restaurants and shops with a platform facing the Bernese Alps.
