Circular route around the Port and Richard Lighthouse

This circular route starts at the lighthouse and runs along the estuary and its many fishing huts. It passes through small hamlets with stone houses. Return via the port, the estey, and the estuary dyke again.

A lovely walk, especially the sections along the water (on the dyke and along the Richard harbour channel). The section on the road heading inland is a little monotonous, but otherwise there's no other way to complete a circular route! And the hamlets are pleasant to walk through. We ended the hike with a visit to Richard's lighthouse and its museum – highly recommended! You'll be rewarded with a beautiful view from the top of the lighthouse!

A lovely walk between the estuary and the surrounding meadows and villages.
Be careful in hot weather, however, as there is little shade along the route and part of the path runs along tarmac roads.

A hike with varied landscapes, no particular difficulties, very easy to follow as it is well explained. The Richard lighthouse site on the estuary is worth seeing.

Thanks to this delightful walking route, we discovered this part of the Médoc that we didn't know.
The lighthouse, Richard harbour and the hamlets we passed through are a must-see, as is the dyke with its fishing huts overlooking our magnificent estuary (there are picnic areas at the lighthouse and harbour).
The only slight downside was the very muddy path along the Richard harbour canal (used by mountain bikes and horses) and the trail overgrown with invasive plants.
We will return to explore the Port du Goulée area.
Thank you for this hike.
