Description of the walk

Start: Girecourt-sur-Durbion church.

(S/E) Head south, cross the D420 (take care) and take the castle lane opposite the church. It is bordered by the 16th-century castle (private property). Cross the river, the Durbion.

(1) At the end of the path, turn left onto the road leading to a housing estate. Then follow the path eastwards, which continues along the road and runs alongside a stream. Continue along this path between the meadows, which turns right to cross the Ruisseau de Fontenay, then turns left.

(2) At the crossroads, turn right. At the corner of the church in Gugnécourt, turn right again. Ignore two turnings on the left and pass in front of the town hall.

(3) At the crossroads, turn right. Walk along the woods on your left, then enter the woods.

(4) Turn right onto Chemin de la Haie. Stay on the main road.

(5) After about 1 km, turn left at a hairpin bend. Continue straight ahead (south-east) for almost 2 km. You are now in the Longchamp communal forest.

(6) At the end of this road (cross in front), take the D48 road on the right. Enter Méménil, a village famous for its Christmas market on the first weekend of Advent. At the fork, turn left. Pass the town hall and the church, then turn right.

(7) At the next intersection, turn right towards Girecourt-sur-Durbion. Continue straight ahead, leave the village and pass the cemetery on your left. Continue along the narrow, winding road. Even though there is little traffic, please drive carefully. Join the D420.

(8) Keep right on this busy road (be careful).

(9) After crossing the Durbion, turn right. You will immediately see the church car park on your left (S/E).

When passing point 5, more details are needed because there are two paths about 100 metres apart that both turn left (I only had the Visorando documents).

Well-marked route, but very disappointing: too much tarmac, uninteresting and monotonous. Suitable for mountain biking but best avoided for hiking.
