Description of the walk

Park on Place de la Salle de l'Amitié, opposite the cemetery and the town hall.

(S/E) Leave the town hall on your left, then walk along the church wall until you see the first sign indicating the route to follow. Keep to the right at the first two junctions, then immediately after, turn right. You will come to an intersection with a track.

(1) Follow the track to the right to reach a wood. Cross the Bois de Madame, then the vineyards to reach the D128.

(2) Turn left, then at the stone crossroads, turn left again towards Eynesse. You are now on the section shared bythe GR®624West and the Way of St James.

(3) Continue along the path and look out for Château Langalerie, a former noble residence, on your right. Further on, ignore a road on your left and you will come to a three-way junction.

(4) Take the right fork and then, almost immediately, head towards the track opposite. Then cross a road to reach a T-junction.

(5) Leave theGR® and turn left. Keep left at each intersection until you reach the stop sign on the D128 (Route du Grand Renom), slightly off to the right.

(6) Continue straight ahead on the D128. At the bend, turn sharply left onto the stony track until you reach the junction with a path.

(7) Do not follow the curve but continue straight ahead to reach the large electricity pylon. In front of the pylon, first turn left then right. About 250 m further on, follow a left-hand curve, then a right-hand bend. Cross the access road to Château Le Mayne (wine estate).

(8) Continue straight ahead, then turn left and follow the woods. You will arrive at La Girarde, a bed and breakfast.

(9) First turn left then right to head towards Le Pelletan and cross it, leaving it on your left. You will arrive at a T-junction.

(10) Turn right towards Bérard. At the next junction, turn left and pass Bourasson. Keep left on the road, passing the first crossroads again.

(1) Retrace your steps in the opposite direction to return to the starting point (S/E).

Fairly flat country walk, so limited views and lots of roads.

A very interesting circular loop. The trail is very well marked, and it's easy to follow the GPS track.
In wet weather, some paths are waterlogged.

There is a slight issue with the signposting between points seven and eight.
200 metres after passing under the high-voltage power line, an arrow indicates to continue straight ahead, but it is better to turn left and follow the recorded path, then turn right to pass in front of Château Le Mayne.

Good evening
Walk completed on 8 May 2024 in the direction indicated in the description (counter-clockwise).
No problems finding the route and very varied landscapes despite the omnipresence of vineyards. Hills, vineyards, groves and large buildings follow one another. No difficulty. Be careful after heavy rain, however, as some sections remain very wet... you can walk around them, but the ground is spongy.
The signage for this circular loop is very well done, with signs indicating the directions to take.
A small clarification regarding Le Maine Castle: the signage in the town indicates that you should head towards the castle, which you can obviously do. However, you will still be crossing the grounds and the courtyard where the machinery is stored. The owners may find these intrusions annoying (especially if you are in a group).
So it's best to follow the GPS markings indicated on the VisoRando map, which takes you left before the castle at an old copper sulphate reservoir and then back right along the small wood. You pass behind the (very beautiful) building without disturbing anyone.
Finally, don't miss the remarkable restoration of the guest house called La Girarde, which is a model of its kind.
On the other hand, unlike many Romanesque churches in the area, the church of Saint-Quentin is of no interest.
Thank you for this information.
