Start at Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens Church in Bazincourt-sur-Saulx.
(S/E) Follow Rue du Pont, cross the bridge and turn right onto the D 997 road, walking on the hard shoulder.
At the Calvary, continue straight ahead on the tarmac road uphill for 800 metres.
(1) Turn right onto the stony path, pass an isolated house and continue along the path until you see a white path on the right leading into the forest.
(2) Take this path for 300 m.
(3) Turn right onto another white path for 700 m.
(4) Turn left onto a dirt track and after 300 metres turn right and leave the woods.
(5) Walk along the woods on a white path downhill and enter Montplonne via Rue de la Petite Montplonne. Cross the main street and continue to the wash house and town hall.
(6) Retrace your steps, cross the bridge on the left and immediately turn right onto Rue du Four.
(7) At the cemetery, take the tarmac path that climbs up to the left. At the intersection 400 metres further on, continue to the right. Then continue straight ahead until you reach a copse on your right (elevation 295) and take the path on the right into the woods for 100 metres.
(8) Then turn left and go down the wooded path, past the ponds and an old wash house, until you reach Stainville.
(9) Turn right and cross the bridge over the River La Saulx.
(10) At the statue of Napoleon, turn right onto Rue Grande, pass the church and continue to the cemetery at the edge of the village.
(11) Turn left onto the white path just after the cemetery, heading due west.
(12) Continue right on the path for about 2 km, always turning right at intersections. Enter the village of Lavincourt via Rue de Lavauza. At the end of this street, turn left onto Grand Rue.
(13) Then turn left onto Rue de l'Église, which goes uphill.
(14) Once you have left the village, turn right onto the dirt track and follow it for about 600 m until you reach the edge of the D 25 road (elevation 253). Follow the hard shoulder for 300 m.
(15) Take a sharp right turn onto a tarmac road, then continue straight ahead on the dirt track running alongside the woods for about 1 km, heading due north (elevation 259).
(16) Turn left, following the cart track through the Bois de Bazincourt, and continue straight ahead.
(17) Turn right onto the white road and continue until you reach a dirt road.
(18) Continue straight ahead and, 150 m further on, turn right then left for another 150 m. Turn left and exit the woods 200 m further on. Then continue straight ahead and pass in front of the calvary.
(19) At the crossroads, take thefirst right and follow the steeply sloping path that passes by a house. Cross Rupt-aux-Nonains and its bridge. At the intersection, go straight ahead, following the sign for the sports ground.
(20) After passing the cemetery, turn right at the three-way junction, then take the white path which then becomes a dirt track for 2 km, passing under a power line and arriving at elevation 269.
(21) At the end of the path, turn right, pass under the power line again to reach the entrance to Bazincourt-sur-Saulx.
Then follow the D 997 to the left, take thefirst right to return to the starting point (S/E).
