Depending on your time and fitness level, do the double circular loop or just one of the two circular loops. This double circular loop will take you through the Landes forest and along the Courant de Soustons.

The route starts in the centre of Vieux-Boucau, where there are quite a few people. Then head into the forest via the Courant de Soustons and the Voie Verte to Soustons and back. Description of the walk

Parking in the centre of Vieux Boucau.

(S/E) Head west towards Lac Marin. Go round it on the right.

(1) Take the footbridge over the Courant de Soustons and follow the tarmac path to the Soustons beach car park.

(2) At the roundabout, at the end of the car park, take the small tarmac path signposted: Dead End. At the end of the tarmac, continue straight on along the sandy path leading into the forest. Walk along the left-hand side of the Pinsolles golf course.

(3) You’ll reach the banks of the Courant de Soustons; follow the river, keeping it on your left. At the end of this path, join the Greenway.

(4) Turn right onto it and follow it for about 200 m until you reach a crossroads.

(5) Leave the return path on your left and continue straight on along the Voie Verte until you reach Soustons. Cross the D79. Pass the Itinerêve sculptures. Reach the entrance to Soustons.

(6) Turn left at the junction with Rue des Montagnottes, then continue straight on towards the D652. Follow it parallel for a few dozen metres, passing the Airial and then the Sandaya campsites on your left.

(7) After passing the Sandaya campsite, head back into the forest until you reach a ridge.

(8) Follow the well-marked path through the forest until you reach a T-junction.

(9) Continue straight ahead. 100 m further on, after a right/left bend, continue straight on and rejoin the Courant de Soustons.

(10) At a place called Labarthe, turn left and follow the stream, keeping it on your right. Cross the D79 again and join the Voie Verte at the junction you passed on the way out.

(5) Follow it to the right in the opposite direction to the outward journey until you reach the Courant de Soustons and the path taken on the outward journey.

(4) This time, continue straight on along the Voie Verte towards Vieux Boucau and follow the D652 again for about 300 m.

(11) Turn left before the holiday village to go round it on the left.

(12) Join Avenue de la Pêtre and turn left towards the Courant de Souston.

(13) Without crossing it, turn right to follow it, keeping it on your left. Then head back towards the starting point, strolling along the banks of Lac Marin. At the very end of the lake, after the beach, turn right, following the Courant de Messanges and keeping it on your left, and return to the (S/E).

I completed the double circular loop on Sunday 24 September. It was actually quite hot. The route therefore seemed very long to me on the sections with a lot of tarmac, particularly on the greenway section. It is, in fact, this section that leads me to rate this double circular route as only moderately interesting. When you know the marine lake very well, you inevitably do this circular route to discover other landscapes. I found them less interesting compared to other walks in the area.
