Description of the walk

Parking near the town hall in Saint-Sauveur-Marville.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, follow Rue du Chemin Vert. At the stop sign, take Rue de l’Église on the right, follow it and continue past the cemetery. Turn left into Impasse de la Poste.

(1) At the end of the cul-de-sac, cross the disused railway line via a path that climbs up Rue de la Gare opposite the tram station, which once linked Saint-Sauveur to La Loupe. Continue leftwards until you reach the silos. Walk past the old railway station. The street turns right. Continue along the D323 until you reach the entrance to a track on the right.

(2) Take the track on the right which climbs gently between the fields. You’ll come to a T-junction; turn right onto Chemin du Cassoir and follow it to the D140.3.

(3) Follow it to the right for about 200 m. Just before a hedge, turn onto the path on the left. Continue to the edge of the Bois de Saint-Jacques. Go round it on the left, then on the right. Pass “La Vallée de Misère” and turn left to follow it. Take the first path on the right, which leads to a small road near a house surrounded by trees, La Vougerie. Follow this road to the right until you reach the first house in Bigeonnette.

(4) Turn left onto the path between a hedge and the fence. Continue to the Vallée de Bellevue. Turn left to follow it. At a hut, cross over and follow the path on the right which leads to the D140.5.

(5) Turn left and continue to the Stop sign. Turn right onto the winding road that crosses the housing estate. Cross the D140 and take the road opposite to reach the car park at the entrance to the swimming pool. At the end of the car park, turn right.

(6) Do not cross; keep to the right. Pass by the old tram station, now converted into the Maison des Associations Sportives. Follow the wide Route forestière du Jaglu to the right (picnic tables). Join the GRP® Vallées de la Blaise et de l'Avre.

Yellow and red markings

You will arrive at the entrance to Château le Jaglu. Leave the GRP®.

No markings

(7) Turn right. At the corner of the estate, continue straight ahead along the path which crosses the Vallée de Bellevue once more and climbs up to the D140.4 at the entrance to Bigeonnette.

(8) Cross carefully and continue straight ahead, following the path that used to be the old tramway line. Continue to the entrance to Saint-Sauveur.

(9) At the entrance, turn left onto Rue de la Mairie, which crosses the railway line via the level crossing. Continue straight on to reach the town hall (S/E).

Notes

Waterproof shoes are recommended, as the paths may be damp.

Before the harvest, the paths are often grassy; farmers allow the grass to grow first to protect birds that may nest there and to allow seeds to germinate.

Do not undertake this route in strong winds or intense heat.

Take care during the hunting season; follow the instructions given by hunters.
