Park in car park P5 at Balcon de Villard.
(S/E) Take the path that starts to the right of the north exit of the car park, towards Les Glovettes. Pass by the start of the Glovettes chairlift and reach the Glovettes buildings.
(1) Turn right along the ski slope, following the red and white markings ofthe GR®91. Climb for about 400 metres, then leave the main slope and take a path on the right
(2) At the top of the path, cross a forest road (ski slope in winter) and take the small pass of the Clots path opposite, heading towards the Bergerie de la Fauge.
Descend to the Fauge refuge.
(3) Leave it on your right and continue on to the Bergerie de la Fauge.
(4). In winter, you can walk along the side of the sheepfold, which is closed. In summer, a new detour route has been created to minimise disturbance to the occupants. In both cases, cross the pastures heading east to the edge of the forest, then take the path at the north-eastern end of the pastures.
(5) Follow this path through the forest to the Roybon refuge, which is open all year round.
(6) Head east towards Col Vert, then 200 metres further on, quickly turn left (north) before passing through the barriers, keeping to theGR®91trail. Follow it for about 1,800 metres. You will reach a shoulder from where you can admire the landscape.
(7) Leave theGR® on the left to descend, staying on the ridge of the shoulder, heading west.
The descent is not marked and follows a barely visible shepherd's path, but it is not difficult. Two-thirds of the way down, the path becomes clearly visible again.
Continue the descent to the Croix des Plâtres.
(8) Head straight ahead to reach the Cochettes district (signposted on standardised signs).
(9) Turn left to reach the Pont de l'Amour bridge.
(10) Cross the bridge and follow the stream to admire the Fauge waterfall.
(11) Continue uphill and, at theGR® crossroads, take the track on the right to reach the hamlet of Les Clots.
(12) Turn left onto the road and you will come to the Glovettes buildings and the original crossroads.
(1) Retrace your steps to return to car park P5 (S/E).
A lovely walk in beautiful weather. We didn't start from the closed P5 car park but from P1 because a car show was being held. There were lots of people up to the Roybon hut, but after that there was hardly anyone except for a few mountain bikers and three hikers. The descent from point 7 to 8 is very steep and slippery, but the rest of the hike was fine. The track on my mobile phone shows 13.2 km and 692 m of elevation gain.
