Description of the walk

Park in the Town Hall car park.

(S/E) With the town hall on your left, head towards the Puybusques and Auterive municipal park, following Avenue Marcel Vidal (D622). Cross the bridge over the Lèze.

(1) At the crossroads, turn left at a right angle onto Chemin des Rives.

(2) Keep left into the cul-de-sac leading to the Chaussée du Moulin des Bures, built in the 19th century to create a side canal feeding the Moulin des Bures on the other side of the river. It is also a lovely spot to rest on your return from the walk.

(3) Turn back.

(2) Continue the walk by turning left onto the Chemin des Rives to reach the small Route de Beaumont D74.

(4) First turn left then right to cross it carefully and follow the path up to the Pesquiès windmill.

(5) At the junction, turn right to reach the mill. Stop to enjoy the view over the Lèze valley.

(6) Turn back.

(5) Continue along the Pesquiès circular loop, heading right. Go straight on, ignoring the path on the right 200 m further on leading to the Mounet farm. You will reach another junction at the top of the slope.

(7) Leave the path leading to Saint-Léger on your left and continue straight on along the hedgerow-lined path that passes under the trees.

(8) Before reaching the farm, turn left at the crossroads. Continue straight on until you reach the Labat farm, on the edge of the small, tarmac-surfaced Route de Beaumont.

(9) Turn left onto the D74. Pass the hamlet of Barcoudi.

(4) Turn right onto the Chemin des Rives, which you took on the way there.

(2) Continue to the left and return to the starting point by following the route in reverse (S/E).

Worth a visit

The village’s two mills: the Pesquiès mill, a windmill housing a model demonstrating the mechanism of a windmill, and the Bures mill, a watermill still in operation, whose flour is sold every morning at the Lèze market.
