Park near Saint-Thomas Church, in the village of Hautefage-la-Tour.
(S/E) Set off along the road to the right, with your back to the church.
(1) At the top of the hill, in the hamlet of Saint-Thomas, continue along the road to the right. In front of the house at no. 1250, take the stony path leading down to the right. Pass the houses of Labau on your left and continue to a three-way junction in the road.
(2) Pass the path with the Blue Cross on your left, then turn right following the Yellow Cross for “Saint-Thomas, Saint-Just, Hautefage 9.5 km”. After the stony or grassy path through the woods, continue across open ground until you reach a road (Route de Bonneval), which you should take to the right. At the junction just after this, keep to the right.
(3) After the house at no. 3176, take the stony path on the left that leads into the woods, marked with a blue sign. Follow this path through the woods until you reach a shaded road; take this to the right until the junction with Route de Bonneval, then follow this to the left towards the level crossing.
(4) Cross the level crossing and then turn immediately right to walk alongside the Agen–Périgueux railway line for 400 m, then cross the tracks again.
(5) Before the bend and after the new house, turn left in front of the house and continue along the grassy path. Head up to the right into a wood and continue straight on across open ground to the Route des Granges Basses, which you should follow to the left until you reach the railway line.
(6) Just before the bridge over the railway line, turn right onto the grassy path alongside a hedge. Walk for about 200 m, continue to the right along the edge of a hedge, cross a ditch and carry on to the road at a place called Rocayren.
(7) Head right for about 50 metres then left, along a plantation of Ente plum trees and hazelnut bushes: yellow sign indicating Saint-Thomas / Saint-Just 4.7 km. Above the Portély house, take the road to the right for 100 m.
(8) Turn onto a path to the right of a ditch, running alongside a hedge, and climb up to a copse below the Guiraudie house. After passing the entrance to this house, take the RD223 to the left for 100 m, then the grassy path on the right marked in blue. On leaving the woods, in front of house no. 320, go down Chemin de Mazet to Route de Bonneval, which you should take to the left towards Saint-Just church.
(9) Below the church and the hamlet of Saint-Just, turn right onto the grassy path leading down between two hedges, marked with a yellow sign reading “Saint-Thomas Saint-Just 2.2 km”. Cross a bridge, turn left along a stream and follow a stony path up to the Route de Rocayren; turn left here and follow it for 100 m towards the Route de Piquepoul. At the stop sign, turn left for about 80 m then head downhill.
(10) After passing the entrance to the Maison l’Occitanie, take the stony path on the right, in front of the high-voltage electricity pylon, leading to the hamlet of Saint-Thomas.
(1) Turn right and head back to the starting point of the walk (S/E).
Nice hike, a bit of road and lots of paths along the edge of fields. Beautiful views in some places. Shady and fairly flat, except for a climb at the end. The churches are not accessible, which is a shame...
Please note that there are beehives on the path between stages 5 and 6 (N 44.353975° E 0.786034°), but it is possible to pass a few metres away without any risk.
