Capeyrou circular

This short hike, starting from the village of Saint Aubin-de-Lanquais, takes you through vineyards, countryside and woods, allowing you to discover the landscapes of the southern Dordogne. This route takes few roads and is suitable for our four-legged friends. Bring boots for crossing a ford in winter.

Description of the walk

Park in the church square.

(S/E) With your back to the church, take the road on the left after the war memorial, towards Conne-de-Labarde.

(1) At the sign for the exit from Saint-Aubin-de-Lanquais, take the path on the left that runs alongside an orchard and climbs slightly. At the intersection with another path, take the path on the right, between the vineyards, and at the next intersection, turn left.

(2) Then follow the path to the right. This leads to another path, which you should follow straight ahead. You will reach a T-junction.

(3) Turn left towards Cantelouve. The path ends and leads to a road. Continue straight ahead, passing a crane, and go to the entrance of a large property.

(4) Go down the path on the right that runs alongside it and reach the ford at the bottom of the descent.

(5) Cross the ford and take the path opposite that goes up into the woods. Follow this path until you reach a few houses on the right, at Le Roqual.

(6) Turn left and follow the path to the D21.

(7) Turn left onto the D21 and follow it for 300 metres until you reach the edge of the woods.

(8) Make a short first turn right then left to take the path under the pine trees that runs alongside the D21. Cross the lane leading to Capeyrou and continue winding through the woods until you reach the bridge over the D21.

(9) Follow the path on the right, which initially runs alongside the banks of the Conne, then crosses it, veering to the left, and joins a cross road.

(10) Cross it and take the path opposite, which leads to the intersection with another path coming from the right, at a place called Gabarou.

(11) Continue straight ahead, rejoin the tarmac road at Les Bernis, and join the D21. Make a quick first turn right then left and return to the car park (S/E).
