Saint-Perdoux from Issigeac

A varied route through unspoilt countryside. Pleasant paths, woodland, a few tarmac sections, and lovely views. Please note: the path may be muddy after rain.

Description of the walk

Start at Place de la Fontaine, plenty of parking spaces, electric car charging points, drinking water fountain.

(S/E) Walk northwards to the small bridge over the River Banège.

(1) Cross the bridge and walk through the campsite to reach the Route de Mouleydier (D21). Follow it to the right for 100 m until you reach the police station.

(2) Turn left onto the Roman road and continue to the Chemin des Amoureux.

(3) Turn left and continue to Route de Bergerac, D21.

(4) Cross Rue Michel Jeury (D21) with care and continue along Chemin du Bout

(5) At the entrance to the "La Loge du Prévôt" housing estate, continue left until you reach Chemin des Chanoines, which you follow to the right for about 100 m.

(6) Turn right onto the dirt track, Impasse de la Vernelle, and follow it until you reach this group of abandoned buildings.

(7) Immediately after these old buildings, take the path on the left and continue to the next tarmac road.

(8) Cross this road leading to the village of Monsaguel, and continue straight ahead on the tarmac road, Impasse de la Curette, until you reach the entrance to Le Pontillou farm.

(9) Continue straight on along the path to its end, at the top of the hill.

(10) Then take the path on the left and continue straight on along the tarmac road of La Forie until you reach a bend.

(11) Take the path on the right, cross the hamlet of Pech Bouquet, and head down onto the tarmac road. At the bottom of the hill, go straight on, cross the Route de Bouniagues, then the river.

(12) At the first junction, turn left, then immediately right onto Chemin de L'Escalat and follow it until you reach the N21.

(13) Cross it carefully to take the path opposite, then turn left onto the path and follow the road leading to the village of Saint-Perdoux. At the first junction, turn right towards the town hall.

(14) Opposite the town hall, turn left onto the path and follow it downhill until you reach a road.

(15) Take this quiet tarmac road opposite and follow it for about 1 km, down to the bottom of the hill.

(16) Before the Ruisseau le Courbarieux, turn onto the path on the left: this is the GR®636, which you should follow to the hamlet of Mandacou.

(17) At the entrance, turn left onto the road, then, after 100 m, turn right into Rue du Pech Peiros, then again, after 100 m, left into Rue de la Forge.

(18) Leave this street by taking the first path on the right, and follow it to the A21 “Route d’Occitanie”.

(19) Cross it carefully, and continue along the white track opposite, which climbs into the woods. Carry on until you reach the small tarmac road; follow this to the right as far as La Donzelle.

(20) Turn onto the tarmac road to the left and, 150 m further on, take the path on the right leading to La Frégère. Pass this hamlet and arrive at a junction you passed on the way out.

(6) Turn right to cross the Banège, and continue straight on to Rue Edmond Lial, at the entrance to Issigeac.

(21) Head towards the village on the left, then immediately take the path climbing up to the right. Continue, veering left, to reach Rue du Tour de Ville.

(22) When you reach the market hall, follow the one-way Rue du Tour de Ville to the right, going round it, until you reach Place de la Fontaine (S/E).
