Park on Place de l'Église in Averton.
(S/E) Set off along Rue du Pavillon, which continues into Rue de la Pyramide.
(1) At the wash house, turn right, follow the road that passes in front of the lagoons and along the stream, then cross the bridge over the Moulin du Bois or Ossence river. Pass to the right on the Merdereau at the point where the two streams meet.
(2) Go up the path that passes near the springs that once supplied the Château d'Averton by gravity. When you reach Monteuzan, turn left behind the house, then left again onto the path that leads to La Butte.
(3) Here you will find a magnificent view of the forest. Go down the small road on the left and you will come to a bridge, Thon d'Orthe, crossing the Merdereau at the edge of the forest. Cross the bridge, then continue straight ahead for 50 metres.
(4) On the left, climb a steep path at the edge of the forest, then continue straight ahead on this well-marked path.
(5) Please note that a sign here indicates the possibility of shortening the route by returning directly to Averton via L'Endreudière (see alternative route in the Practical Information section). Otherwise, continue straight ahead through the forest to reach the D149 (busy road, caution advised). Take this road to the left for 30 metres.
(6) Take the path on the right that climbs towards Les Roches Plates. The path continues around Les Roches Plates and arrives at Rochalais.
(7) Cross the small road at the top of the hill, near the water tower, and continue straight ahead. Here again, there is a magnificent view of the surrounding hills with the Forest of Sillé and the Coëvrons in the distance (see map on site).
(8) At the end of this path, descend to the left via Les Vieux Champs. When you reach La Barberie, carefully descend the D255 for 500 metres and, at the crossroads, take the D149 for 20 metres to the right.
(9) Turn right, pass behind Les Loges and continue to the Route des Perles. Turn left towards the village and head for the church (S/E).
