Circular walk starting from Moustier-Ventadour

Park in the centre of Moustier-Ventadour on Place de la Mairie.

(S/E) Head north on the D124, pass the market hall, then take the first turn right then left and follow the Chemin de la Blancherie opposite – there’s a signpost. Continue downhill to reach the River Soudeillette. Follow its right bank and, as you climb, you’ll reach the Pont Beyne, which is actually a footbridge.

(1) Cross the bridge and continue along the path, which is quite steep and stony at the start. You will then reach the village of Le Mas.

(2) Turn right and follow the D103 for about 200 m. Take the country lane on the right, heading due east. Pass through the hamlet of Monplaisir and its small lake. Continue through the forest, staying on this path and ignoring any turn-offs to the right or left. You’ll reach a local road; follow it to the right for 100 m.

(3) Cross it and follow a track to the left; you’ll soon reach the right bank of the Ruisseau du Moulin du Lieuteret. Follow the stream downhill along the Sentier des Troubadours, then enter the village of Prailloux.

(4) Walk past the village and, on leaving, take a forest track to the left. Join a road, follow it straight ahead and arrive at the Pont Roudal.

(5) Cross the Soudeillette and continue along the village road, heading uphill and rounding the Château de Ventadour. Carry on to return to the car park at Place de la Mairie (S/E)

(S/E) Refreshments are available at Le Trobar, a café that is often open in summer and on Sunday mornings outside the tourist season.
