Circular from Montferrier to La Coume and Freychinadel

Parking is available on the left of the D9 when coming from Villeneuve d'Olmes.

(S/E) Head south, then south-west along the gently sloping path. At the first fork, keep right and continue to a hairpin bend.

(1) Turn right onto the path and continue climbing.

(2) At the fork further on, take the left-hand path.

(3) Turn left to reach a rocky platform via the very steep path. There is a beautiful view of Mont Fourcat from these Piteil rocks overlooking Montferrier.

(4) Descend to the fork.

(3) Take the path to the left heading south. At the next fork, turn left and do not go to Peyrot. Join a road.

(5) Follow it to the left, crossing the hamlet of La Coume. After leaving the hamlet, find a path.

(6) At the fork, keep left and descend to reach the Freychinadel stream.

(7) Cross it and follow it downstream, keeping to the right. You will come to a road.

(8) Do not go up towards the Jourdane farm on the right, but follow the road to the left down to the hamlet of Freychinadel.

(9) At the exit, take the path on the right and follow the stream to reach the Touyre. Follow the river on the right to Villeneuve-d'Olmes at a bridge.

(10) Climb up to the right onto the promontory (cross on the site of an old watchtower). Enjoy the view from this small promontory.

(11) Descend towards the Touyre.

(10) Cross the bridge, turn left and pass in front of the Town Hall. Follow Rue des Couers to the left, then continue along Route de Montferrier (D109) to join the D9.

(12) Follow it to the left until you reach the entrance to Montferrier. Watch out for cars driving fast on this stretch.

(13) At the entrance to Montferrier, turn left to reach the car park (S/E).
