Circular Montferrier via the Freychinadel stream

Coming from Villeneuve-d'Olmes, head towards Montségur and Monts d'Olmes. In Montferrier, pass the campsite and take the^first road on the right: there is a small car park available.

(S/E) Take the path that climbs slightly towards the south (GR®107 - GR®367 - GRP® Tour du Massif de Tabe). Leave the path that climbs to the right towards Les Céries.

(1) Cross the D909 road which climbs to Monts d'Olmes, continue on the GR® and follow the Ruisseau de l'Encantat stream. You will come to a fork.

(2) Leave the GR® and continue straight ahead. Turn left at the hairpin bend and join the D9.

(3) Cross this road, which climbs to Montségur, with caution and take the path that climbs north-west.

(4) At the fork, take the right-hand branch and descend into the woods until you reach a forest road.

(5) Turn right onto it heading south-east and descend to the stream.

(6) Cross the stream and follow it on the right towards the north until you reach a road.

(7) Do not turn right towards La Jourdane farm. Follow the road downhill to the left and pass the hamlet of Freychinadel.

(8) Turn left, heading west-southwest, into the small plain, and take the path that climbs into the woods.

(9) At the fork, take the right-hand branch and continue to the Ruisseau de la Coume stream.

(10) Cross it and take the road that descends to the right to the D9.

(11) Carefully descend the D9 on the right for 50 metres and turn left onto Rue du Talc to climb back up to the car park (S/E).

(5) If necessary, you can go directly to Montferrier by turning left.

(8) If necessary, you can return to the car park. Continue straight ahead to reach the D9 road. Follow it to the left.

The Visorando software indicates 10.6 km in 4 hours 25 minutes. I recorded 11.4 km on my watch in real time for 3 hours 30 minutes (including picking up a few chestnuts and mushrooms).
