Park in the car park of the village hall in Bise, a small hamlet of Genestelle to the north-east of Antraigues-sur-Volane.
(S) Look for the signpost in this car park and head south-east up the well-marked paved slanting street (yellow and white), towards Conchis.
(1) Continue along the track climbing to the left. 200m further on, you’ll find the Col des Fraysses signpost and theGRP® de la Haute Cévenne d’Ardèche (yellow and red markings), which you should follow to the right as far as Conchis.
(2) In the centre of the hamlet, leave theGRP® to your left and continue due south along the small road leading to Genestelle.
(3) Just before a sharp bend to the right (and a water tank), take a small path on the right that overlooks the road. You’ll come out onto this road, near the first houses of Genestelle. Continue downhill to join the D318 in the centre of the village.
(4) Take this road on the left until you reach the signpost 300m further on. At this point, head down the path on the right towards Saint-Andéol-de-Vals. The descent is well signposted (yellow) and leads to the D218. Cross it directly opposite; cross the Sandron via a small footbridge and climb up the opposite slope, heading due east.
(5) Join a very narrow road; turn right onto it for 5m, then leave it immediately to the left to head up to the heights of the hamlet of Sandron. Little or no signposting; the path heading south-east is clearly marked. A good climb through the chestnut trees. You’ll come out onto a track to follow to the right, then another track also to the right, and finally join theGRP® (yellow and red markings) at the Grange signpost.
(6) Follow thisGRP® to the right; 300m further on, at the Col de Grange, continue left along a very pleasant section following the contour lines. Stay on this yellow and red route until you reach the village. Arrive at Saint-Andéol-de-Vals.
(7) At the D218, turn left against the one-way traffic and cross through the village.
(8) After crossing the D218 (there are few markings here), head down to the right and then immediately left to reach the Haut Ségur bridge, which spans the Sandron. Cross the bridge and the small road to climb straight up towards the west, reaching the hamlet of Haut Ségur and a small road.
(9) Follow this road to the left. Shortly after the wayside shrine, leave it to the left onto a path passing some very beautiful old wash houses. Follow this poorly signposted but well-marked path; continue on the ascending route. Cross a road to reach another path at the Praneuf signpost. Continue to the left to reach the Col de Montagnac.
(10) Follow the road to the right for 400m and take the path down to the left until you reach the Pont de Bridou.
(11) Cross the Volane via the bridge, continue along the road heading due north until, 200m further on, you find a steeply ascending path on the left leading to the hamlet of Thieure.
(12) At this point, there is a hiking information point. This hamlet is situated on a rocky outcrop, overlooking the Aubenas plain to the south, the Volane valley to the east, and the Besorgues valley to the west. Take the small road heading north, pass the Croix du Coulet and continue straight on.
(13) At a wooden gate, leave the road and take the track up to the right.
(14) At the foot of the chicken coop, take the well-marked path up to the right. This turns into a track, continues northwards, becomes a path again and leads onto a wide, carriageable track.
(15) Take the track on the right and stay on it. After a gentle climb, the descent towards Aizac begins. You’ll come out onto the D443.
(16) Turn right onto the road and climb up to reach the Col d'Aizac (E).
