Biscarrosse walks

Hike a stone's throw from Biscarrosse town centre. Short route on trails with a few sandy sections. Please note that there are a few hundred metres along the road. This trail takes you around the Petit Étang de Biscarrosse lake on shaded paths.

A pleasant walk in the Landes forest, which is not always flat... With your family and at a leisurely pace, allow 2 hours; alone and walking briskly, it will take you less than an hour and a half.

The proposed route crosses the state-owned forests north of Biscarosse Plage on the border between the Gironde and Landes departments, and takes you along the shores of Lake Cazaux-Parentis. This route will allow you to discover the different faces of the Landes dunes It takes you along sections of hiking trails marked by the Biscarrosse Tourist Office and a section ofthe GR®8. Author's note: this route was posted online in 2018 after being tested. As I am no longer in the area, I am unable to verify it and some sections in the forest may have undergone changes as a result of forestry work and the 2022 fires that affected the region.

A short hike, mostly shaded, which can be done on foot or by mountain bike/hybrid bike. Several viewpoints over the Étang de Cazaux and Sanguinet on the section running alongside the lake. A quiet and very relaxing route.

Walk along the ocean to return via the Dune du Pilat with beautiful views of the Banc d'Arguin Nature Reserve and Cap Ferret.

This is a very diverse circular route that allows you to discover two aspects of Mimizan. On the one hand, there is the historical aspect: the bell tower, the wash house, the Borne de Sauveté, and the Château de Woolsack. On the other hand, there is the geographical aspect: the dunes, the forest, the flora, and the site of Lac d'Aureilhan Mimizan. Please note: A municipal decree dated 12 December 2017 prohibits the use of the footbridge known as "Gombaut" (point 7 on the map) for the safety of users. On a stroll through the marshes, port, town and pine forest, enjoy the invigorating air of the Arcachon basin and the charm of the vestiges of the belle époque of this seaside town, which has seen many great moments and preserved many reminders of them.

A family walk through the forest and then across the Eyre delta and its marshland landscapes, with wildlife in abundance throughout the route.

The first stage of the tour of the Arcachon basin begins with a crossing of the maritime pine forest along the Atlantic coast. It follows a cycle path for a long distance. However, there are various possibilities for reaching the beach, particularly before or after the Maison Forestière du Truc Vert, in order to vary the route a little.The arrival at the Arès Salt Meadows Nature Reserve and the crossing of it are very pleasant and rich in birds and landscapes typical of these salty environments.

Walking around the Arcachon Basin is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a variety of natural environments, landscapes, towns and activities. This route follows the entire western, northern and eastern perimeter of the basin, from Cap Ferret to Biganos. It can be done in any season and can be adapted to suit individual preferences and the pleasures of each season.

The Dunes ABC at Cap Ferret is a nature trail. On this trail, which runs along the back of the dunes, walkers will discover a large photo album from north to south, organised alphabetically from A for "Algae" to Z for "Zoster".

An easy route combining history, gastronomy and discovery in a picture-postcard setting. Five kilometres long, it starts at the edge of the Chapel of the Villa Algérienne, crosses four oyster-farming villages between beaches and pine trees before ending at Pointe aux Chevaux.

The Certes and Graveyron estates in Audenge (33) are a group of former salt marshes, once used as fish ponds, nestled in the Arcachon basin. Now a nature reserve, it is a unique place to observe nature and especially birds. The short loop trail allows you to explore these places at your leisure.

The third stage of this tour of the Arcachon Basin leads from Audenge to Biganos station. The option chosen is to travel by train from Biganos to Arcachon because crossing the marshes is not possible during the chosen season (December).The route is entirely on roads, with a pleasant stretch through a forest of various deciduous trees. Biganos is a larger town than the villages we passed through earlier and has no particular charm except for its harbour.
