A fairly flat, easy and pleasant walk. We first follow the River Authion before it flows into the Loire. We then walk along a stretch that may be flooded during high water. Ideally, this short, relaxing walk should be enjoyed in dry weather.

Description of the walk

Park on Rue du Pochetet, in Les Pont-de-Cé.

(S/E) Head towards the River Authion, then turn left and cross the footbridge. Head left to reach the car park at Square du Pigeon d’Or. Go straight ahead along the path opposite, which consists of two lanes: one for walkers and the other for cyclists. Follow this path to the bridge crossing the Authion.

(1) Cross the bridge and go straight on along the small path opposite. Go down the steps and continue straight on along the path. This section of the path may be flooded when the nearby River Loire is in flood. Continue along this path until you reach the first building in sight.

(2) Take the first path on the left, just before the block of flats. Continue along this pleasant path until you reach the Route-de-la-Sainte-Gemmes.

(3) Follow this road to the right until you reach Rue du Pochetet on the right (S/E).

This looped circuit, accessible to all, allows you to discover the landscapes and built heritage of the banks and hillsides of the Aubance in the commune of Mûrs-Érigné. The Aubance is a winding river hidden behind dense vegetation. At a place called "La Chaussée", a statue of the Virgin Mary can be seen before you walk along the wooded foothills of the hillsides near Les Gilardières. Discovering the hamlets of Gaigné, Petit Claye and Grand Claye allows you to appreciate the local heritage (beautiful buildings, chapel). Passing near the village of Mûrs, you can see the sensitive natural area of the Aubance loops, whose biodiversity is protected by the municipality of Mûrs-Érigné and the Layon Aubance Louet Association. This wetland is a reservoir of biodiversity whose various ecological functions are essential to the region.
