Park in the car park opposite Leffe Abbey.
(S/E) Take the main road, 'Charreau de Leffe', for about 250 m. There is a beautiful view of the abbey bell tower on the right.
(1) On the left, just after the private property on the side of the road, take the path that climbs up the hill towards the Sous les Roches de Devant-Bouvignes nature reserve. Partial views (due to trees) of the village of Bouvignes on the left bank of the Meuse, dominated by two medieval castles: the comtal castle and the castle of Crèvecoeur.
The path joins a stony track crossing pastures and running alongside the Montorgueil quarry.
(2) On the path leading to the Viet farm, turn left.
(3) Take the grassy path on the right at the next crossroads. Follow this path until you reach the road.
(4) Turn left. The road enters the forest a few hundred metres further on. Follow it, it is not very busy, until you reach the junction with the Route de Blocqmont.
(5) Follow the narrow path that enters a damp and sometimes muddy undergrowth opposite the Route de Blocqmont. This section of a long-distance hiking trail joins the charming village of Awagne through meadows via the Chemin des Massennes. Leave the long-distance hiking trail on your right and continue to the church in Awagne.
(6) A little further on, just before leaving the village, at the religious monument, turn right onto Chemin de la Fontenalle, which descends to a private property. Leave the building on your left and continue straight ahead along a path that opens onto what looks like a private garden and curves sharply to the left to follow a path between two meadows. Entering the Bois de l'Abbaye, it turns 90° to the right to rejoin the Grande Randonnée trail that you left a short while ago. Follow this Grande Randonnée trail to the left. It quickly enters a damp and muddy undergrowth in places.
(7) Just before leaving the woods, take a poorly marked and poorly maintained path that climbs to the left. Follow it to the southern edge of the forest.
(8) Take the grassy path that leads to the buildings of the hamlet of Le Buc. Take the road Sur les Brûlés on the left for about 200 m.
(9) Turn right and follow this village road downhill to the Charreau de Leffe national road, which you must cross with extreme caution (during the week, there is heavy truck traffic for the Montorgueil quarry).
(10) Follow Route de Froidin for about 500 m.
(11) Turn onto the path descending to the right just before the house opposite Rue Val-de-Douaine. This path is also poorly maintained until it enters the woods.
It descends rapidly to the Ruisseau des Fonds de Leffe.
(12) Follow Rue Rémy Himmer on the left until you reach Château de Chession.
(13) Just after the building, opposite the sign for 'Ruisseau des Fonds de Leffe', take the path that climbs up to the right and curves around the property to the south. At the edge of the woods, leave the woods and walk along the field.
At the edge of the woods, continue straight ahead across the fields to reach the gravel path just opposite. The path between the woods and the gravel path is not clearly marked.
(14) Take this path called 'de Gemechenne' to the right. It crosses fields and pastures and quickly joins Rue Saint-Jacques.
(15) Turn right towards Malaise just before the few new buildings near the main road down to Dinant.
(16) In Malaise, go around the farm buildings on the right and turn left onto the path at the edge of the forest. This path descends to the Fonds de Leffe stream and Rue Remy Himmer, leading to the abbey car park (S/E).
