The route is described starting from the southern exit roundabout in Jaca (next to which there is a Repsol petrol station). There is a burger restaurant right at the starting point.
(S/E) Set off along the Pamplona road (N240) on the left-hand side and follow this road for about 100 m.
(1) Don’t miss the start of a small road on the left (Camino Cabañera), which runs along the edge of the plateau, offering beautiful views of the Sierra de Oroel. Follow this road for about 350 m.
(2) Do not miss the small path branching off to the left, still running along the edge of the plateau. This path is recognisable by its gravel surface made of crushed brick!
(3) After about 800 m, you’ll reach a more wooded area, beneath a power line, with an outdoor facility below. This is a spring (Fuente Forranchinas), equipped with picnic tables.
The path continues along the edge of the plateau.
(4) After about 500 m, you’ll reach a fork with a small path leading down to the left (signposted for mountain bikes); follow this. This path leads onto a small road at the bottom of the valley; follow it to the right for about 700 m.
(5) Cross a bridge over the Río Gas on the left. Immediately afterwards, take a farm track that climbs to the left through the woodland.
(6) At the next junction, head up the farm track sharply to the left into a shaded valley.
(7) After about 400 m, you reach a developed area: this is Fuente Santa Eulalia (picnic area). Continue in the same direction. The track reaches the plateau where the trees give way, and crosses a large farm (cooperative). You come out onto the road to Puerto de Oroel, with Jaca to the left.
(8) Follow this road to the left, taking care, for 1 km. Beautiful views of Jaca and the mountains behind.
(9) At the bottom of the descent, just after crossing the bridge over the Río Gas, look out for a small flight of steps on the right leading to a path that runs alongside a field and the river. This is our final stretch, which is very picturesque thanks to the cliffs on the other side of the river.
(10) The path leads via another set of steps onto another very narrow road. All that remains is to head back up to finish the walk, not without admiring the third spring (Fuente de los Baños). The road passes under the roundabout: turning right after the tunnel , you’ll reach the roundabout (S/E).
