Park in the car park at the Arc-sur-Tille village hall.
(S/E) From the village hall known as “L’Asset”, walk along the car park towards the sports hall, cross Rue de la Mairie to take Rue de la Roulotte, then turn left onto Impasse de la Roulotte.
(1) At the end of the cul-de-sac, take the path leading into the green spaces and stay on the main path.
(2) At the three-way junction (marked by a bin), turn left, staying within the green spaces.
(3) Fruit bushes have been planted by the village children; walk through this orchard, then follow the stormwater basin and emerge onto Rue de la Distillerie, continuing straight on. Cross this street and turn right into Rue du Moulin Lajus. Continue along the pavement, passing Rue des Chézeaux and then Rue Jacquemard.
(4) Just before the small bridge, take the path on the right which runs alongside the river ‘le Gourmerault’. A little further on, take the footbridge over the Gourmerault. Follow the stony path until you reach another footbridge, which you should cross, then turn right. Follow the path round the lake as far as the water sports centre building.
(5) Walk behind the water sports centre, then, after the short uphill stretch, turn left to continue round the lake.
(6) At the spillway (a small concrete weir that allows excess water to drain from the lake), turn right onto a small track; the entrance to this track is strewn with rocks to prevent vehicles from passing. After about fifteen metres, take a small track on the left which then runs alongside the stream.
(7) As you walk alongside this stream, you will see the pillars of an old coffer dam (a small dam used to regulate the river’s water level). Then follow the path on the left which will lead you to the small road; turn left and follow this road for 400 metres. Turn right and continue along this path to the pond, which you go round on the left. Cross the small bridge and continue for 500 metres before turning right for 250 metres; here, on your left, is the Fontaine Tarnier.
(8) Retrace your steps to rejoin the main path on the right and take the first path on the left. Then take the first path on the right to reach the road. Follow this road for about 500 metres on the right-hand side; you’ll see a bus shelter. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, turn right, then immediately left onto Rue de la Planche.
(9) Take the footbridge over the Tille, then a farm track on the left. Follow this track until you reach the small street. Cross over the Tille again.
(10) On your right, you’ll see the old mill and, as you get closer, you’ll be able to see the turbine by the leat. Carry on to the end of this street and cross Rue de Genlis
(11) On your right is the church of Arc-sur-Tille. Continue along Rue de la Mairie. Walk past the town hall before returning to the car park (S/E).
