Around Varois-et-Chaignot

On the D70 coming from Dijon, a few dozen metres past the roundabout with the road leading to Ruffey-lès-Echirey, there is a car-sharing area on the right at the junction with Rue Albert Joliet. Park here.

(S/E) Take Rue Albert Joliet eastwards, pass the cemetery, then continue, turning right and then left, until you reach the ARC (the ARC is a four-lane road linking Dijon to the A31 motorway junction).

(1) Carry on along the track to the left, following the ARC until you reach the junction. Turn right onto the D70 and follow it for about a hundred metres until you reach a tarmac track on the left leading to Chaignot.

(2) Follow this track, cross the D960 with care, then continue along the Grande Rue until you reach a small square with a wayside cross

(3) Continue along the Grande Rue to the right (north-east) to the end of the village, then turn left onto a field track until you reach a farm shed, which you go round to the right (without crossing the bridge). Follow the stream along a path to the left until you reach a small wood.

(4) Leave the small wood on your right and turn left (west) onto the path running alongside a hedge. Take the^first path on the left, then, after a slight climb, take the path on the right which leads onto the road heading towards Rente Rouge

(5) When you reach this road, turn left onto it for 50 m (do not head towards Rente Rouge, which you can see in the distance), then turn right onto a path across the fields. Follow it (westwards) then turn left onto a path for 700 m.

(6) Before crossing the Ruisseau du Bas Mont, turn left onto a grassy track (east) until you reach the Rente Rouge road

(7) When you reach it, turn right and head back towards the starting point (S/E) via Rue de la Charme and Rue Sarrasin.
